Ryanair - getting your taxes back?

Same situation. I wonder if some of the case law from refunding hotel charges might be applicable. As in if you don't stay in a hotel room the profit can be taken, but not the tax nor cleaning fee.

 

Of course getting back the money probably will take more work. As I am not in the UK nor EIRE.

AFAIA, it is like the Bank charges issue (well, the way it used to be before they changed their lie)

 

It's a penalty until they prove it's not. They shout 'admin' but it is one hell of a fib.

 

As you are not in the UK or Eire (which is best!) I think you are going to struggle, although it is possible to sue them in any EU court...just don't know how.

 

This issue never really gets anywhere so I think you should contact EUclaim (I think that is what they are called - and they charge 25% I think).

Don't think there is anything in the case law you aver, just IMO.... but that is the point about them not allowing them to make profit from their fees....which is 100% profit. It's just getting them into court! I've heard of people using Stansted, and dirty Ryanair stating it was the cleaners office (so, claim failed).

I believe their success if avoiding court action, is in their cleverness in not refusing to refund the taxes (which would be actionable), but their charges for doing so.

 

Whilst you may accept the hit on the fare not being refundable, the taxes do not require to be paid, however, their charge for processing such a rebate is more than the tax due - calculated on a per ticket, per seat, per leg - which ensures even a multiple refund attempt, the tax refund will never be more than their fees, making a claim pointless.
