Another update on this, the old hsbc debt has now been sold to a company called NCO Europe from Arrow Global This was subject to an attempted county court judgement, but because of the help from this forum I replied in mycol that the debt was stat barred and never heard back afterwards! Yet here we are still being harassed  I am not going to pay, I am just updating to let people know that these parasites will do anything for pennies.

Well I take it back about Johnson not doing anything. Apparently he's planning to do a 'farewell tour' to say goodbye to other government leaders but not much seems to have been confirmed so far. Biden's playing hard to get, the Polish PM isn't sure he has time to meet and it's not clear if he'll speak to Macron this week.   There's always Zelenski, I suppose.   Anything to try to stay in the limelight.

Just curbing the rampant profiteering by the large energy companies would be a start   The profits they are making in just the last 3 months are obscene, and they are shunting around 50% of it (billions and billions) straight back to shareholders in buy backs and dividends.   Capitalism gone amok   'Governments directly subsidising the high cost'  as you suggest is just shunting taxpayer money into energy company obscene profits, although its a slight improvement as its at least those who earn enough to pay tax that would be hit more - bit of course not the wealthiest, who report sod all taxable earnings in the UK.   Its the profiteering that needs to be curbed. and it needs to be done 3 months ago.  

Might be worth looking at stature barred argument more closely.   What is the basis for thinking the debt is stature barred ?   Deferment is acknowledging the debt and keeping it live.  So when has there been 6 clear years of no payment or acknowledgement?
