Oh my word. We are not the only ones experiencing the hell of the funding corporation. We currently have over a £1000 in late payment charges, purely cause they will not change the payment date. I refuse to pay any of the charges, which are so high because of the rediculous amount of phone calls and letters they send. If you decide to answer the call, it is silent, but the calls are around 8 a day on each of the 2 contact numbers they have for myself a nd my husband. We too got the car ina hurry from carcraft, and were told it was one of the best finance companies around, due to our good credit. We had excellant credit before taking out this loan, so why we got stuck with these is a mystery to me. We too got into arrears of 3 months, and although we contacted them to tell them we were waiting on money owed to pay them, they still sent a baliff round. We made the full arrears (minus charges) but when we tried to make the payment, we were told to phone to baliff on his mobile number and make the payment direct to him. I did not think this was right, and took legal advice, which confimred that any payments shold only be made to them direct. We sent a cheque, which they took no problem. We have since been late with payments (no more than a month) and the phone calls start from the end of the payment date. I have 18 payments left to make to them and can not wait for them to be out of my hair. I have never had so much trouble with a finance comapny before, and will be logging the calls as harrassment with trading standards, after reading these posts.

Hi, I purchased a 2002 Ford Mondeo from Approved Car Finance in 2005. The terms of the agreement were over 4 years and that payments would be made as follows £302 per month but I paid off the interest in the first 2 years then I paid for the car. I did this, although I made a few late payments I always contacted Funding Corp to inform them of this and to make an arrangement to clear the arrears. After 2.5 years I found I was really struggling to pay £302 per month (bearing in mind the vehicle was only worth £5000 due to high mileage) and so contacted Funding Corp to discuss a payment option or re-finance - they refused. I then had a letter saying that due to the fact I could not pay for the vehicle that they would be repossesing it. At this time I can honestly say I didn't care what they did. Under the terms of the contract as I had cleared the interest if they took the vehicle I would have nothing else to pay. The company collected the vehicle which was in immaculate condition (better than they gave it to me) I then had a letter stating I owed £18000 for the vehicle and that they had only been able to get £600 at auction for it. This totally confused me and even more so when they said that the contract was for 5 years and that there was no get out clause. I have since been bombarded with letters saying they are willing to reduce it to £10757!!!! Thanks for that!!! I have informed them that I have no way of paying this amount, their response? we will take you to court. I have told them to feel free to take me to court as no judge in this land would allow them to extortion that amount of money out of somebody on Income Support (my son is disabled). My other alternative is to go bankrupt but you have to owe over £15000 to do this and as the Funding Corp have reduced the amount I owe to £10757 I cannot do this either. As yet I have only had letters from them as I changed my telephone number after they kept ringing me asking when I am paying the amount......in full!! But as a word of advice for all those being messed around by collectors you do have rights to write a letter to the collection company telling them they have no right knocking on your door without requesting permission from you - it is actually tresspassing even if you are council/housing association. They must send a letter to you to arrange an appointment to come to your property, it is up to you if you respond and you are within your rights to call the police if they do not get permission first. These sorts of companies target people who are vulnerable or on low income and believe they can do what the hell they like. How on earth can a 5 year old car - in immaculate condition be worth £18000 then 2.5 years later be worth £600 - oh and they didn't supply any tax either and also pursuaded me to take out ppi insurance which even if I claim for I will never see as it would go straight to Funding Corp off the cost of the vehicle. Please please please do not touch this company or Approved Car Finance with a barge pole - I am a strong willed person who stands up for herself but others may be more intimidated by the above and be taken for a ride. Good luck all, oh and in response to gman when I requested a statement I have paid nearly £3000 in charges, would be interested to hear how you got on......

I missed a payment with TFC in Feb 09, purely by accident, wedding planning etc. They called, my husband answered, they were their usual threatening selves; husband told them where to go, and said to the guy, 'look, we both know that what you do isnt legal don't we, so why don't you come and get the car and write off the rest of the debt and we'll call it quits'.....the TFC guy AGREED that they weren't operating legally, then they phoned me very politely to arrange to come get the car, they did so, and havent chased the outstanding balance of around £10k.....HOWEVER it is shown as a repossession on Equifax. It does have a 'date settled'. Quid Pro Quo I guess??

HI FOLKS I WOULD LIKE TO EXPLAIN A PROBLEM THAT I HAD WITH TFC. WHEN I PURCHASED A CAR FROM THEM i GOT INTO DIFFICULTIES WITH THE PAYMENTS, AND THEY THREATENED TO SEIZE MY CAR. AT THAT POINT I TOOK SOME LEGAL ADVICE AND WAS TOLD TO ASK THE HIGH COURT IN LONDON TO CONDUCT A SEARCH FOR A BILL OF SALE. APPARENTLY, IF THE BILL OF SALE IS NOT REGISTERED WITHIN 7 DAYS OF SIGNING IT IS INVALID. IT TURNED OUT MY WASN'T AND WHEN I REFUSED TO LET THEM HAVE THE CAR BECAUSE THE CAR IS SECURED ON IT THE AGREED WRITE OF THE DEBT IN RETURN FOR TAKING THE CAR.

MOST COMPANIES DONT BOTHER, SO IT MIGHT BE WORTH A TRY. AT THE TIME IT ONLY COST £5 FOR THE SEARCH. ONE WORD OF ADVICE THOUGH, MAKE SURE YOU GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. GOOD LUCK FOLKS.

Hi, i brought my car in Feb 2010. Never missed a payment and all payments up to date. I got made redundant last Friday nd July with no warning from my employers, and as id broke my contract in Oct 2009 i get no redundancy pay.

So i ring up the funding crap to find out if they can help me in anyway just in case i cant find employment straight away, i was very rudely told that if i miss my payment on Aug rd my account would go into arrears and then ran me through the process IE. phone calls, letters and repossession.

When i was sold this car AFC told me that i could return the car after yrs and i could exchange it, or once id paid half the balance i could voluntary terminate my contract, little did i know this was a lie when it turns out i signed a bill of sale or something? I was not aware of this!

So now i have no idea where to turn because if i cant make the payments I'm gonna get hounded and harassed, and also i feel Ive been duped into an agreement which i knew nothing about.

They would not listen to anything i had said and neither would they help me in anyway.

I'm so angry as my new wage will not be as high as what i previously earned and I'm never going to be able to make the £244 payment each month plus other bills. I would quite happily just give the car back.

And i think i would be able to get more for it on ebay than at an auction!

Any help would be grateful cheers

I have been reading with interest the TFC stories here, I too have been conned by them, in 2009 I took out an agreement, i thought at the time it was HP, as the guy told me... he also told me after 2 years I could exchange it and my payments would go down by 30%.. after 2 years I rang to change it and was told it was 3 years.. rang this week to change it and now told it's 4 years due to the economical climate!!!

I will contact the High courts soon and ask about my BOS and it's validity (i guess it's not)

i bought a rover 45 td on a 52 plate from this company when i bought the car it had a broken syncromesh on the gearbox which the company said they will pay for so i took the car to garages to get quotes and was quoted 600 pound rang the company to let them know and they said they would take the car back and repair it themselves which they did and it came back with a faulty clutch .not too mention when i got the car the price of the car was 5400 and after they added their insurance policies they wanted 22000 pound back .i had a good job at the time but i had to relocate because i met my now wife online and moved to somerset i could not find a job quick enough so i could not keep up with repayments and they reprocessed the car and sold the car at auction and now i have a finance debt of 8212 left to pay believe me they are the biggest load of ******s ever and con artists

Hi. This is my first time on a forum. I too took a car from ACF using the Funding Corporation last November and so far have not had any problems with them. However, I had an accident a couple of weeks ago and my car was declared a write off and since reading some of these threads, I am slightly worried that I am going to end up both car less and in debt. I took out the GAP Insurance with the car and am waiting to receive the claim forms at this present moment in time. My insurers want to complete but I can't until I have returned the forms. I have rang them a number of times and keep being told that the papers are in the post. Another thing that seems odd is that to date, I have also not received the vehicle registration document and I have been advised by the Funding Corporation that they have been sent off to the DVLA. I am going to need this to advise DVLA that the the car is written off. I hope that they cover the outstanding finance and I can move on.

Hi guys,

This is really my last hope, I am desperate for some advise on the problems that I am having with this company, they are running me into the ground and I do not have the energy to fight them anymore. I cannot beleive there's 21 pages of problems with this disgraceful company spanning years and years and nothing has been done about their conduct. I am really hoping someone might advice on my situation as I am at my witts end.

I got a car on HP with TFC in Feb 2007, in 2009 I was made redudant and fell behind with payments (I suffered the abuse and mental torture from the company as many have you have witnessed) despite being in constant contact with TFC and making reduced payments I rec'd court papers in Oct 2009 for a Return of Goods Order. I contacted the litigation dept. and come to an agreement, the ROGO was stayed upon (held ) on the basis that I reinstated full payments again. I did this and delt directly with the litigation dept at TFC who were pretty decent most of the time. However in 2011 I was made redundant again and had the same problem, I spoke to my account manager at the TFC informing them of this and they said it was fine and as long as I reinstated the payments the next month no further action would be taken. (I missed three payments in total)

I started to make payments again in August but I recieved a letter later in the month from the court stating the the TFC had applied to lift the stay on the return of goods order. I contacted the lady that had been dealing with my account to ask her why on earth this had happened and she was couldnt really give me an answer, I asked for a full statement of my account so I could do an audit and match up their figures with mine, she said she would look to deal with this and stop court actio. When i got the statement and I done a full audut of my account/agreement etc turns out there were SO many descrepancies. They added GAP insurance onto my account when it was cancelled at the start of the agreement, charges were added to my account that were not in line with the HP agreement, the total amount payable differs on the HP agreement and I had several figures supplied to me of conflicting balances to add to this some monies that I had paid had not been deducted from my balance. I put all of this in writing to the TFC in Sept 2011 and informed them that I would be witholding payment until they addressed my concerns, I didnt receive a response (not shocked) so I called to speak to my account manager, I was told that she had left!!!

Someone completely new to the account had to pick this up (I have received all of the info that the TFC hold on me under a subject access data request and the notes are very misleading and confusing so no-one really has a full understanding of my account history)

I was told in Nov 2011 that I would have a response in full to my letter by thr 6th Dec 2011, when this didn't happen I chased TFC constantly (by email so I have a trail of evidence) about 15 all in all.

As it stands today they have still not addressed all of my concerns. I attended court today which was a horrible experience, no on from the TFC attended just a duty solicitor on their behalf. The judge grant the lift on the stay, it it is now just a straight forward ROGO, the judge now wants all the evidence of correspondence etc and then a hearing will go ahead in April.

I need my car for work, without it I cant get there. My original HP loan was for approx £13,000 and I have paid over £10,000 (TFC say I owe £4,000 plus fees) I wish I could just give them the car back and wipe the slate clean, problem is, I dont think i would get £4,000, definately not at auction, but this would obviously leave me without a car and a deficit debt which I would have to pay. I have tried to enlist a solicitor but no-one seems to specialise in the area, and I cannot get an appointment at the CAB, someone please help, I don't know where to turn, I know this sounds pathetic but I can't cope with all this stress this company are putting me under, I am usually a very 'normal' healthy minded person but I have actually been put on medication recently for anxiety and panic attacks I swear its relaed to this (I have no other problems)

I am so sorry for the ramble, I hope someone can help :(

Thanks so much.

hi all , i have had major problems with this crowd, got a car from one of there showrooms , the car looked lovely but was a nightmare and completeley of the road within 4 months of purchase. the fundings corps attitude was " well we have been paid so its not our problem" shouted loudly down the phone at me, i contacted the "The Financial Ombudsman" for advice, it has been a long process nearly 3 years from purchase, and yes i made every payment on car that was off the road for 2 and a half years!!! The Financial Ombudsman will look at both sides and make a judgement which is final, they are also a free service, the Funding corp even showed the ombudsman bad attitude when replying. Its surprising they are still getting away with running a business in this fashion, i am currently awaiting a refund! ;-)
