Hi. a couple of issues and I am quite concerned. I realise and appreciate this is some sort of help forum for people who have issues like the main one I have but I have a health issue that is making things more difficult.

After some years as a Hermes customer with no issues, they finally lost a £48 parcel that I could barely afford to post, much less can afford for them to claim lost while pretty sure its stolen at their national sorting hub but I don't think I can face the whole small claims and trying to do everything that should be done to stop them simply taking peoples stuff when you pay them to deliver it.

The issue is that I have a severe head injury and severe panic attacks. I'm in a real bad place and don't know what to do. It truly feel both easier to give up and lose and suffer mentally less.

I have just read through one case on here and found the person was given guidance but also had to do a lot to get what seems like justice. I can't push myself intentionally into panic attacks and that is a very dangerous road for me to take, but am I stuck and should suck up the loss while thanking Hermes for stealing my property calling it lost in their warehouse where thousands of things simply vanish ?

Sorry, I'm not gonna be able to do this, as you can probably tell :(

  • ebay email sent to buyer to confirm I have now filled in claim providing hermes required prove of purchase cost etc.

I assume everything done so far by hermes is generic run of the mill. I have already assumed from reading on here that I am going to be offered half the money back but that is half a weeks income to me as I am living on UC and saved up a long time for this watch to find my eye sight cannot see (most of) the writing and features on it. FTR I included the postage price in the sale price on ebay.

When I looked into parcel issues, I was horrified to see what is going on. It really looks like they just help themselves to anything. I'm not buying of course that it all just vanishes.

have you raised a dispute with ebay?

it is also worthy to note that you can do a chargeback if you used a debit card with ebay, contact your bank.

you should also refund the buyer.

I am planning on speaking to ebay monday. I have told the buyer I have to refund them and there is no question of that. But money isn't good. I made the mistake of assuming the money was mine.

I meant to ask, what would I be doing a chargeback to ebay for ? I purchased the hermes postage on my own hermes account.

no chargeback for the whole transaction to your BANK.

you should have an ebay transaction showing on your bank statement.

You let them argue it out between themselves, you'll have your money back, stuff 'em!

100's of Hermes threads to read here .

But it might be the simplest one for you as you don't want to do court and its only £50ish total

But don't give in!!

  • 2 weeks later...

That issue is put to bed, that parcel turned up the day after. A non-issue now.

Unlike this. The last I hear from hermes on the 5th March giving themselves 28 days to complete the review.

As a side note, ebay seem to be chasing me for the full amount including the fee they kept for themselves, that I obviously never saw. I believe I will be overdrawn by morning.

then phone your bank now and block it , if its via a debit card, ensure they cancel the continuous payment authority too.

is that bank account and your debit card listed as payments sources on ebay?

replacing your debit card or cancelling the old one does NOT cancel any existing CPA made using an old card.

check your listed funding sources on your EBAY a/c.

what shows?

at the bank.

bank sent me a warning, I called ebay.

they have agreed this isn't my fault and will credit the fees.

I fixed my bank balance and allowed the money to go to them.

Now just the hermes side of things to sort. Minus the fees, if I accept their offer, which I expect will be £20 + £3 postage cost, lots of hassle and wasting time trying to talk to them, is it worth the £18 quid...

I think it is better in my pocket than theirs and someone at their company has of course stolen it.

I dread to think how they are gonna handle this. But I know I am the one who can't afford the loss.

likewise switch it the otherway around...is it worth them losing a court claim for the sake of £18...the fees that will be added to the claim will double the debt atleast too.

so this is where a carefully crafted letter of claim works wonders..and refusal of their paltry offer reinforces your stance.

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm having a whole other issue now in relation to this.

The new evri site is not parsing links and I simply can't get to the support page link to see any updates. I can't see how to get to navigate from their base site.

Ah, I managed to see an update.

  •  I got an update :  Rule Response 05/03/2022 11.40 PM - Thank you for submitting your completed claim form, reference: ******-******. This has been received by our Claims Department and will be assessed within 28 working days. [partial message copied and pasted]

  • Then I got another update : Rule Response via E-mail29/03/2022 04.16 PM - Thank you for getting in touch with your parcel enquiry which is being looked into by Nawaf at your local depot, as this is the Customer Services Team in the best place to help resolve your enquiry. We value your time and patience and we will be in touch as soon as we have more information. Please wait for us to contact you as we are unable to reply to this email.

That's the last I hear from them.
