Hi my name name is Terry and i am new to this site and would like to say hello 2 every one ! I have been going through the proceedures of sending letters to the Halifax to claim back my bank charges total £1769 they made me an offer of £680 and i have rejected that and sent a third letter threatening court action, the reply they sent me was not very good and we are looking to make a claim at the county court my dilema is should i go through the court or should i use the ombudsman first would appreciate any advice you can give me Thanks Terry

Thanks for the advice and i will go forward with legal action against the Halifax, My wife is unsure about this because of the costs involved we have been told that we will incur the banks costs as well as our own and it sounds like it is going to cost a fortune !

Hi mate I succesfully claimed back over £3000 last week, I was as worried as you are but I soon realised they couldnt defend themselves and the settled as soon as they realised I was serious and had filed with the court. So go for it mate, Its your money and dont forget to add the 8% interest at the court stage.

Lloyds TSB settled in full before hearing


Cap One offered full settlement and default removed.

Could any one please tell me if i have worked this out right and worded correctly for value parts of N1 form

Interest under s.69 County Courts Act 1984 £348.22

Court Fee £120


TOTAL £ 2,202.22


Plus interest pursuant to s.69 county courts ct 1984 from date of issue to date of judgement/settlement at £2082.22 x 0.00022 = 0.458 OR at such rate and for such periods as the court deems just
