Yesterday I had a message in my phone telling me Barclays had blocked my account because of fraud and that I am required to call their customer lines.

I did and the guy obviously could not explain anything to me. I was requested to go to the branch with my ID card. I was at the branch this noon and I am told account is under review because someone called Barclays from Belgium pretending to be me which doesn’t add.

I am really confused as aside monZo Barclays is my only main account where I receive my salary through and actually perform all transactions.

Do I just wait?

there are numerous threads here of barclays doing this under anti fraud or money laundering suspicions.

have you recently had an unusually large payment put in or one going out from any source?

the bottom line is it sometimes takes weeks for them to unblock your access.

Please tell us more about the £2000 worth of transactions ?  How many transactions, what type of transactions e.g. purchases, transfers and what was the largest individual transaction ?

Have all of the transactions been made in the UK ? and have all transactions been made to people or companies based in the UK ?

We could do with some help from you.

I sent £1,000 first and sent another £1,000. I normally send money home for our mum’s chemo and dialysis. Through a 3rd party transfer. World remit.

Home is outside the UK and I am here in the UK

that will be the reason then, using world transfer for repeated large sum transfers , they suspect money laundering etc.

how many months have you been doing this?

and how long have you had the barclays account please?

that'll be the reason then. you've triggered too many flags by the world transfer method.

it will pay you to get ANY income now directed to another bank A/C like your Monzo one.

it will take 2-3 weeks for them to suddenly release the block.

you must be transferring in/out large or repeated sums of money and they are suspecting you of money laundering.

lots of threads here on them doing this.

it will take 2-3 weeks for it to work itself out.

pers id open a parachute account and get all income paid there from now on.

We're not saying that, just that it takes time. I suggest you do what dx says and open another account to have your salary or whatever paid into.

Please have a read of other threads about Barclays doing this and you'll understand more.

I had a call from them to send my proof of funds to an email number from when I started operating the account. I can get most of my payslips, some I’m not sure. How do I deal with this? Send whatever I have?

Email address * not number sorry.

Go phone the HR depts of your old employers. They should be able to send proofs by email pdf.

if not sar each one, they must comply within 30 days

send Barclays what you have to date, and explain the others are being sought by sar if necessary.
