Left after 7 months due to Coronavirus and repayment to the bank stopped as I wasn't getting paid anymore by KOC. I am being contact by Cedar Financial Debt Collectors and keep receiving emails from then setting up a repayment plan. I am in hospital and haven't worked since I left Kuwait in 2020 so have no money. What should I do?

ignore them totally a dca is not a bailiff = zero legal powers.

block and bounce their emails.

you should ideally let the original creditor know you correct and current address pref by LETTER.

if you wish at a later date to set up a repayment plan direct to them NOT through any 3rd party then do so.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Yeah,

I've had a few emails now asking me to pay this repayment plan with a $10,000 lump sum the $500/month afterwards. This guy is called Isaac Younis and he appears to work for Cedar.

I don't even know if the Kuwaiti debt would be collectable here in Scotland.

I haven't worked since the pandemic in September 2020 when I left due to the pandemic and have no money to repay this amount anyway.

Could they freeze bank accounts or seize property etc?

'they' cannot do anything. Not sure where you are getting this rubbish from.....

There are NO examples of UAE debts going to court in Scotland, the rules are totally different.

lucky you. Hint hint

This has nothing to do with the United Arab Emirates, this is Kuwait. Worst case scenario I was thinking that they could sell on the debt to a British company who would collect as much as they could and get a %%???

nope and make no odds where it is UAE Kuwait, same thing.

these debts are never sold anyway

ignore as long as you are resident in scotland , as much as we condone debt avoidance, there is stuff and all under scottish laws anyone has ever done in the past with these type of debts nor can do.

DCA's are not bailiffs and are TOTALLY POWERLESS on ANY debt - no matter WHAT it's type.

Surely this Isaac Younis should be providing me with the signed loan agreement and a statement of how much is still owed?

Now this Isaac Younis wants me to provide details that I am financially broke.

I think that I will cease communications as I now live under Scottish law, what are your thoughts?

Should never had replied in the 1st place

simply invites pointless letter tennis

All you ever need to do is inform, in writing, the original creditor of your correct and current address.

Emails/texts/pgonecalls... Should be totally ignored and either blocked and bounced, reported as spam to 7726 or not answered.
