Hi

My son purchased Apple TV from a seller on Facebook, he paid £50 for it

It has never been sent and the seller now refuses to respond to any messages

Is there anything he can do?

The seller sent him a copy of his driving licence showing his name and address for proof of ID

So is there nothing that can be done legally for him receiving money when my son has proof that a sale was agreed?
The guy sent a photo of his driving licence with address on but has just not ever responded to any messages

Has your son tried to validate from other sources the name and address he was given ?

As the bank transfer was done back in September the chances of recalling it now are probably zero, but you can try.

We'd need to see more details to advise if starting a small claims court action is possible (or worth doing for £50) but my guess is the name and address is fake and your son won't be able to find him. The problem isn't your son's legal rights but that it's next impossible to enforce your legal rights against scammers who have now disappeared.

He paid £50 to a total stranger for something that Apple sell for, what, £150, something like that? I fear he has just learned the hard way the old saying that if something seems too good to be true it probably isn't true.
