Hi,

I purchased an outdoor jacket online from Sport Direct,

when it arrived I discovered it was too big. I tried to get another one in my local shop instead as I thought it might be better to try one on rather than risk getting the wrong size. They didn't stock the Jacket and they refused to give me a refund.

If I want to return it and receive a refund I have to post it back which will cost me postage, I already paid £4.99 to get it delivered so effectively I would be spending £10 or more for nothing.

Is there anything I can do?

Thank you

check their T&C's online for the clause that states customers purchasing online items must pay returns postage.

if it does, sadly it's your bag. AFAIK there is nothing within consumer regs that states a charge cannot be made to return items that are not faulty.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

According to citizens advice page on refunds they have to refund delivery but not return delivery and not extra if you paid for quicker delivery

But typically only on faulty items.

Yours is not faulty but does not fit, now you do have a right to return it for a refund as online purchases remove your in shop try on so are given 14 days. But, I don't believe you are entitled to get refunded returns postage nor be issued a free label in most cases

You need to check the retailer s  t&C's toward online purchases at their website...some do some don't .

I know it is my statutory  rights to receive a refund. I didn't know why I was unable to receive that refund in a shop instead of waiting in a long que for the post office and paying to post it back. I forgot to mention in the first message that they had left the metal security tag in so it would have to go back anyway.
