Have just been told that a £70 charge against me is being upheld for 2 standing orders (I don't actually have any standing orders!) being presented when no funds were available. I was waiting for already paid-in cheques to clear within the next couple of days, and ticked the online option to "pay as soon as possible" - i.e. when funds were available, not tomorrow, not immediately, but when they'd cleared! I simply wanted these payments made "as soon as possible", but have now been charged £70 just because Lloyd's website uses a version of English that is not supposed to be taken literally, but means what they want it to mean, apparently. At least Dick Turpin, being a robbing ....., had the decency to wear a mask.
