Hi all,

Hoping for advice.

I wanted to leave gymbox at the end of this month, so notified them on the first working day of the month (2 Aug) that I wanted to leave, and cancelled my direct debit after the payment went out on 1 Aug. They are insisting on one full calendar months notice, and therefore forcing me to pay for the entirety of September also.

Seems so petty having to pay for a whole extra month because I told them on Monday 2 August not Friday 31 July. Do I have a leg to stand on if i refuse to pay for September? (Have seen gymbox are very active with debt collectors...)

Side note, can't believe how heavy handed they are based on the various reviews I've seen, what a good way to make sure no one every rejoins after leaving.

Thanks!

So what..

A dca is not a BAILIFF

And have

ZERO legal powers on ANY debt - no matter what it's type.

You have done perfect. Now simply ignore everyone.

Dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Hi CSC and welcome to CAG

See the guide here so you get it right next time - https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/topic/383678-cancelling-your-gym-agreement-get-it-right/

Maybe you should have given notice to cancel a day or two earlier but, in reality, there's nothing they will do about this other than beg, threaten or harass.

Just ignore their demands, threats, etc but keep us posted ......

We could do with some help from you
