Just wondering about the days allowed for a response.

For a CCA request we allow 2 days for posting, 12 days for the response and 30 days thereafter.

For a SAR we allow 2 days for posting and up to 40 days for a response.

Are these working days or just calender days?

Hold your horses there.

If you go recorded, you will know the date on which the letter is received. If you don't know when the letter is received, you can treat it as received 2 working days after posting.

Data Protection Act requests must be fulfilled (i.e. the information arrives on your doormat) within 40 calendar days of them receiving it.

Consumer Credit Act requests must be fulfilled (again, in your hands) within 12 working days, after which the lender has defaulted upon the agreement. If they are in default for 1 calendar month, they commit a criminal offence.

So, if you sent your requests off tomorrow:

07/12: Requests sent

09/12: Requests received

29/12: CC default (double-check this - bank holidays!)

18/01: DP expires at 40 days

29/01: CC default persisted for one month
