Delivering a speech to mark the sixth anniversary of the historic Leave vote in 2016, Frost insisted that “Brexit is working”

Echoing Jacob Rees-Mogg yesterday, Frost said that for him Brexit was never primarily about economics or prosperity ...

- reported by Paul Waugh

as Rifkind claims 'just 12 ministers could oust Johnson .. which shows how clueless rifkind is

1) Johnson would just replace them

2) If ALL his ministers turned on him, and a few certainly wouldn't as for MANY Johnson is the only reason they are ministers, he would just replace them

3) If the whole Party voted him out he lock himself in his No10 flat and call a general election

LOL

"Mr Johnson also made clear he was not capable of some “sort of psychological transformation” to change his character, saying: “I think your listeners will know that’s not going to happen.”

Instead, he dismissed senior Conservative figures calling for him to go – including former leaders Michael Howard and William Hague – arguing they are not putting forward any alternative platform.

The prime minister claimed the “only argument of substance” made by any of his critics was “for us to go back into the EU single market”.

It's going to take a tank division, as he said.

He also said earlier that people are fed up of hearing about his mess ups. He's not reading the room but you wouldn't expect him to. People are just fed up with him and the constant scandals.

This morning the Times has a story about his plan for a tree house for Wilf in the garden at Chequers., paid for by Lord Brownlow, at a cost of £150k including bullet-proof glass.

Sunday Telegraph reporting that Government looking to apply tariffs on steel imports to the UK.

This is apparently the issue the independent advisor on Ministerial code of conduct quit,  because applying the tarrifs would break international law and agreements signed up to.

Move seen as being popular with brexit voters, particularly those in red wall seats.

I thought Government were in favour of free trade without barriers and wanting businesses to be operating in a profitable way. Surely if the tariffs lead to higher costs, as the cheaper steel is no longer as good an option, it means companies making items out of steel will have to increase price of their goods  therefore they would be less competitive in the UK and abroad ?

It isn't joined up thinking, is it? Sounds a bit desperate to me.

Worse, Johnson told Beth Rigby of Sky that he'll coast through the next election and is making plans for a third term, taking his reign to the mid-2030s. If I were a Tory rebel, I'd be looking to get him out before he can run in another election.

Isnt that 'continue to apply tarifs in breach of WTO regs? As already mentioned here a couple of pages ago  ,,

So just Johnsonite right wing press dog whistling to the rabid sheep and distract from Johnsons many many ongoing misdeeds.

... and look at who and where benefits - it aint the UK taxpayer.

Been re-looking at some stuff - and this warrants a fresh look .. and running yourself in circles trying to make sense of it LOL

had to shame the government in to feeding hungry children while Boris was trying to build £150,000 treehouse for a six month old child?

I was idly wondering about two things earlier.

If the UK is going to have the lowest growth in the G7, how long is it before we don't qualify to be in the group any more?

And the other thing might seem far-fetched but could have happened in the US after their last election. What if Johnson is voted out as party leader but refuses to leave no10? Who would/could remove him?

Good point,  BN. I wonder if he would count as a squatter?

I just hope it doesn't rely on 'good chaps' behaviour because the PM doesn't mind breaking conventions.

they seem to be doing more protecting Johnsons criminality and abuses, than protecting No 10 from criminals and abuse

Sequence

1. Tories oust him

2. Johnson calls an election

3. Johnson tries to change rules

He might be a Trespasser within the meaning of the Police and Crime Bill, so can be dragged off to jail as if was a Traveller in a layby.  Of course they wouldn't do that no matter how sorely tempted one of those Police Officer's was.

The officers on the ground might have been sorely tempted, but there seems to be amble evidence that the senior officers at the met are in Johnsons (via his supporters promoters) pockets ..

... unlikely to be the other way around although those 'seniors' are undoubtedly 'in the same club' as it were.

Its the 'nuclear' option of Johnson calling a general election (which the tories would almost certainly lose in a BIG way at the moment) thats undoubtedly holding many in check at the moment, although I think they are beginning to realise that they are going to need a fair bit of time to undo Johnsons, 'excesses, and that doing so will actually lose them some supporters to gain a chance of being elected.

- That many of the current ministers wouldn't continue to be ministers even under a ruling but changed Tory leadership with all their attendant multiple fabulously paid  'advisory roles' in the private sector at risk - holds others back.

As things are, I think labour will be the largest party, regaining about 80+ seats, with the Tories losing that many plus perhaps another 25-40 to the libs. it should be far more than that. but i don't underestimate the stupidity/lazyness of a significant portion of the UK electorate.

Such an embarrassment to have someone pretending to be a British PM who

* Lies,

* Cheats,

* Spins others misery to his own ends

* Protects water companies literally pouring excrement into British waterways and profits in shareholders pockets .. and even those millions of liters are less than the excrement he spouts

* Whips his party to protect corrupt pals

* Whips his party to leasve British kids hungry why trying to get someone to pay 150,000 quid for a treehouse for his ?latest? offspring.

* Protects energy companies excess profits until forced to tax them, then uses the extra taxation to fund more fracking and fossil fuel drilling

*** Bad as he looks, doesn't look bad enough to equate to the lying, self-serving, cheating ****** he actually is.

More than an embarrassment, hes an utter shame on us all.
