David Dillon said journalists should not ‘take instruction’ from officials of the House of Commons

Clearly the article itself in the form presented is nothing more than sexist, misogynistic and inflammatory without any reasonable excuse of public interest.

Not even Murder/man slaughter?

I see frosty has effectively admitted they lied to get Brexit.

I dont doubt he doesn't mean to admit it, but in real terms he has.

“At that point we would have seen, at best, a second referendum, quite possibly Brexit taken off the agenda for good, and who knows what consequences in our domestic politics.”

The peer said Brexit would have been ‘taken off the agenda for good’ if the UK had not agreed to the protocol in 2019.

Interesting that BP's profits have apparently more than doubled,

When you put that in the context of pretty much everyone reducing their use ...

Seems to quite clearly define profiteering from a crisis at the cost of UK people and businesses

That they claim they are going to invest xxx in the UK is probably simply what they were scheduled to spend (or less) anyway and is almost certainly just an attempt to evade being taxed on their profiteering ... especially when BP have announced a massive share buy back to benefit their shareholders off the back of the profiteering.

As they are happy to effectively give their shareholders a tax free 2.5B bonus via the share buyback out of their extra profits, and it is a good chunk of the increased profits,

£2.5B sounds like a minimum for a windfall tax.

Sunak should also enforce the fuel tax and VAT reductions are passed on to customers rather than being kept as profit by businesses as seems to be happening.

"The Tories have even lost Mayfair, calling into question their strategy of impounding voters’ yachts."

- Marina Hyde

We'll now see if the 'tories try to depose Johnson 'the incompetent corrupt liar' and he in turn calls a general election and drags them all down with him, or whether they wait and hope the UK public forget about what has happened and dont mind the NHS being privatised (and their medical data sold off to the private sector), and energy and water companies ripping them off for extreme profits going abroad ..

and perhaps they might be hoping enough non tory voters die of hunger or cold before the next general election.

So we're back with tearing up the NI protocol and it could be quite soon.

What I don't understand is what options are open to the EU legally if the UK breaches [or scraps] an international treaty. I know they can impose tariffs on goods being sent to the EU and make life harder still for UK exporters but can any court rule on this?

I thought Theresa May spoke well yesterday and she made the point that not honouring commitments like this shows the country in a bad light. Well, the government anyway, I'm sure the majority of Brits don't want to be seen as mavericks.

I hope the NIP thing is just another dogwhistle, at the moment I'm not sure. The DUP seem pretty determined to clog up the workings of government in NI.

You mean the no longer main party in NI, who are throwing their dummy out of the pram and refusing to allow democratic representation for the NI people?

The republicans have waited a long time and will make hay with that.

BUT, dedicated as the DUP is, and happy as Johnson is to dog whistle, imagine what a full on trade war with the EU will do given all the problems JUST caused by the UK not being ready for what it forced through

.. all these years on and they STILL haven't even sorted out the border processes for these 'foreigner' goods coming in ....

This expiry of an extension to allow British residents to use UK driving licences and restrictions on who can spend time in Spain is causing problems for the 300,000-strong expat community. Mind you

Brits - voted leave, then left to the EU and didnt cater for the consequesnces of their vote, ddin't use the opportunities given by the Spanish, and hasn't bothered to learn the language .. but they still let him stay
