Maros Sefcovic has issued a statement after Liz Truss announced a new bill to override large parts of the NIP.

Thats the whole of it so far isnt it?

No detail included.

clepto and daughter 'seem to be ignoring that the good friday agreement was intended to maintain peace in Ireland, not maintain the DUP and Tories in power.

I still think its just BS bluffing brinkmanship which will be a lot of wind and noise and naff all else of real significance.

Even if clepto and daughter do unilaterally declare 'we can send our sausages to NI even if nobody wants them and even the DUP wouldn't have them with a full English,

what is the UK going to do at all the other ports if the EU declare that the UK has in doing so effectively revoked all the agreements and mechanisms to export anything to or through the EU?

There seems to be elements of truth in that HB, but largely its foil hat stuff

.. and no mentions of the right wing american cabal or russian influence, let alone Murdock or the other news moguls who sold Brexit to the masses.

The simple fact is that many saw personal benefit from Brexit (especially but not exclusively pharma), and extreme l/r politicians like Johnson and Corbyn wanted power unfettered by the influence of close partners to press their agendas.

"There was anger inside No 10 as the Metropolitan Police concluded its Partygate investigation, leaving the prime minister with just one fixed penalty notice (FPN) compared to some junior staff who amassed as many as five – despite insider accounts that they had attended the same events."

and:

“It’s a joke,” one No 10 source told The Independent. “He told people to ‘let their hair down’ and enjoy their drinks which they’d earned for ‘beating back the virus’.”

They said the prime minister had participated in socialising with officials and advisers in a manner that had been regarded as an endorsement of partying after work.

“He’s a man of little or no integrity,”

My assessment:

1. Johnson got a top QC to do his returns, and got off on technicalities - which would seem to need the collusion of the met as they had officers in attendance AND have already issued fines to others at the same events. - Stinks of corruption to me.

2. Simple civil servants who felt unable to refuse the 'invites' were probably advised to just pay up - by Johnsons advocates - purely to take the flack.

3. Note that only about 2/3rdsish of the fines have been paid ...

Have the 1/3 (favored ministers and spads .. and the wise) been waiting for Johnsons 'get out of jail free' cards to be invoked so they can then say, I'm not paying, no fault as you have already cleared Johnson of attending the same event?

Of course 'the MET found no laws broken' will be used against any issues in the sue gray report ...

In case anyone is interested, this is from Change.org about the selling off of Channel4. I think their news journos and as other people onliine have mentioned, to me it sounds personal because they try to hold ministers to account.

I should know but what happens if you don't pay an FPN?

Despite their criticality to the nation if not Johnson, they are rather like parking tickets or chucking litter on a street. Effectively the FPN is still an 'accusation' which can be contested, although the police will say they gave everyone an opportunity ... those in receipt of FPNs could say they aren't experts, and were effectively following orders.

Point:

There were undefined excuses built into the law, and lets not forget Johnson 'the corrupt liar' is very willing to lie .. in fact i see little evidence he ever does anything else except in jokes or by accident.

Of course Most of the junior civil servants would not be able to call on QC's, let alone undoubtedly not at their own expense ...

Could Tories be thinking that after next election, they might need to have DUP MP's to keep them in Government ?

But Tories in Government are quite capable of channeling money to Unionist area projects in return for DUP support on key legislation.

LOL with the Tories with most seats LOL LOL LOL

in the mail/Brex-press and Truss' twitter feed perhaps

All the polls I see show labour with 70+ seats over the Tories - down from around 120 a few weeks ago, although god knows why its gone down.

Add the 50 ish SNP seats while they are part of the union .. and i cant see the Libs pairing up with the cons again any time soon  ..

Australia's got rid of the conservatives too

It's always worth reading Tony Connelly's thoughts on EU matters. The article is quite long but well put together. This stands out for me:-

The question is whether Boris Johnson will oblige and force a complete breakdown in relations with the EU, including a potential trade war.

To keep the DUP and European Research Group (ERG) on board, the answer has to be he will.

So Johnson did ask for a meeting with Sue Gray, despite all the denials over the weekend, but No10 don't want to publish notes of it. I think the latest was it was a 'private meeting' and details don't need to be published. Some commentators still think this could have been a meeting to try and get Sue Gray to water down the report, although friends of SG are quoted as saying she's not in the mood to do this.

And in other news, Demonic has been tweeting and thinks disgruntled junior staffers, who were fined when senior people at the same parties weren't, are about to publish photos.

It could be an interesting week. It's still not clear that the report will be out tomorrow or Wednesday though.

Quite, TJ.

If the photos keep coming, they could raise a lot of questions about the Met letting off senior people who attended the same bashes as the ones who were fined. There seem to be quite a few naffed off junior officials looking for answers or revenge.

too true

One of the excuses 'posited for Johnson the Liar is that as Johnson 'lives' at no 10 - so he had an excuse to be there ..

a) He lives in the flat .. where he held at least one party

b) tell that to all the people who had a couple of visitors to their home furing the same period and got a 100 quid fine along with the 'non-residents'

Corrupt Politicians, corrupt Met
