Boris Johnson, former Prime Minister

need to add to the 'other jobs' investigation where MPs miss Parliamentary votes (part of their core responsibility IMO) while they are off somewhere working for their 'other employer'

,, let alone when its working for a tax haven protecting them from HMG investigations

That seems straightforwardly corrupt.  Shouldn’t they both be in jail?”

So why isnt this hitting more headlines alongside his other aberrations?

A number have been linked here for some time ...

perhaps headlines of: Sleaze, Waste, Cronyism and Corruption at the heart of Johnsons Government

"Not enjoying my breakfast this morning. This is sickening," one person tweeted in response to the Good Law Project findings.

"One company, Ayanda, won a £252 million deal to supply facemasks – with £155 million-worth of them being deemed unusable by the NHS over safety concerns.

Andrew Mills, who worked for Ayanda as a consultant, is a former government adviser, and was paid £32.4 million for the deal, while Tim Horlick (who owns Ayanda) pocketed £40 million."

I'm not sure if you're referring to Jolyon, TJ, but he's said that HMG should expect to be sued if they interfere with the independence of broadcasting.

My favourite piece of news is that the Nigerian corruption tsar has told Johnson he needs to do better on corruption and dirty money. I wonder why our anti-corruption tsar isn't interested in what's going on? He's been very quiet.

The Ratcliffe Iran issue appears to be far more complex than information published has detailed

Why would Iran take this action against Ratcliffe ?

As for Boris and UK, this shows the weakness being an independent country with a reduced level of influence in the world.  If Ratcliffe was a French citizen, I wonder if they would be back home ?

UB, as Richard says in the video clip, Boris Johnson didn't read his brief and told the Iranians that Nazanin was there training journalists when she was visiting family. [Edit: and refused to correct what he said.] Then the PM said he'd shift heaven and earth or words to that effect, to get her back and then seems to have done not much.

I think it's come to something when an accountant from Bristol has to go on hunger strike outside the Foreign Office to make this visible and get a meeting with a minister. Sadly, it seems the meeting wasn't encouraging and not much is happening.

i'm not saying either are good - just that Johnson is unequivocally FAR worse

I'd rather have my right leg amputated up to the ankle, rather than up to the chest .. if I had to choose between the two

Johnson is amputated up to the hair follicles, then use your hair to wipe his ass

.. and if we swapped, you would still be in the same boat having the consequences of both - but with a lower penalty starting point before Johnson added his mismanagement and corruption, but the rest of us would only have the consequences of drakeford

Sounds like a win for us, and maybe even a small win for you given Johnsons lessened power to f*** everything up

NUMBER OF THE DAY

604,400

The number of doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine the UK threw away after the life-saving jabs were allowed to pass their expiry date, according to data obtained by a Freedom of Information request from The Independent

With a half dose emergency regime, that could have given over a million people a first line of defense jab against covid and done something to limit the continuing damage to the UK's reputation.

I would image they were at the initial cost - so just over 2 quid a dose possibly - 1.5 million quids worth-ish

but its that they were thrown away rather than shipped out where needed

Johnson was happy enough to fly a hercules to Turkey to wait days for some unordered PPE to attempt to save face for himself, most of what was received being unusable, but clearly not happy to use it in a national humanitarian and reputation strengthening cause

and the cop26 host UK becoming the dodgy share dealing and dirty energy capital of the world -

Some might tout this as a resounding cheer for Brexit Britain - well in a way :

"the company’s management has been frustrated with the Dutch authorities in recent years, including over taxes. The government has been gradually shutting down the huge Groningen natural gas field, operated by a joint venture between Shell and Exxon Mobil, in the northern Netherlands because of earthquakes, and a Dutch court this year ordered Shell to sharply reduce its worldwide emissions.

Shell is moving to meet some parts of the court ruling, but the company is appealing. A move away from the Netherlands “would make it harder to claim that the Dutch court has jurisdiction,” analysts at Jefferies, an investment bank, wrote in a note to clients on Monday"

"The new (UK) setup would remove a limitation that Shell has faced when it offers share buybacks.

Under arrangements dating to 2005, Shell has class A shares, which are subject to a Dutch withholding tax on dividends, and B shares, which are not. Dividends to the two classes of shareholders are paid from profits generated by separate business groups. In practical terms, this situation means that the company can buy back only class B shares, limiting the size of the pool, while management must be careful not to sell assets that might constrain funding for the B share dividends.

The company said the new arrangement would allow it to accelerate share buybacks by creating a larger pool of shares available for them."

The restructuring is meant to make the company more appealing to investors and make it easier to sell assets, the oil giant said.
