I have been provisionally accepted for a job as a Work Coach for the DWP.

Just doing the pre-employment checks

they ask if I have an Individual Voluntary Agreement, which I have.

Will they credit check and will they turn me down because of it?

It's not for very much and I am keeping all payments up.

I obviously have to tell the truth but will be devistated to lose the job over this.

Thanks in advance.

In most cases, an IVA would not affect your job. The only times we have seen this have a negative affect on your job is if someone is in a role such as insolvency practitioner, accountant or banker. In most of these cases as long as you receive permission from your employer, it isn't a problem

We could do with some help from you.

lying about it is riskier than having it, so all you can do is be honest and keep your fingers crossed. Good luck!

Never assume anyone on the internet is who they say they are. Only rely on advice from insured professionals you have paid for!

Great news, indeed, congratulations.

There is an added bonus too, to the honesty.

By being honest, not only were you able to get the job, but if you'd fibbed:

a) you wouldn't have been better off, (you'd have got the job anyway), BUT

b) you'd then spend the whole of the job worrying that the lie would surface .... and then you might have lost the job .... not for having had an IVA, but for having lied about it on your application!
