Have tried to Google the answer, come up with vague answers.

Surely they cannot take money where  Priority Debts are involved (ie rent, HMRC tax, council tax etc etc)

Can they take Benefit Money to pay towards Non Priority Debts ( ie Bank, credit cards etc etc)

The reason for asking is I feel DCAs should not be able to touch Benefits to pay any Debt, should this be the case, it raises the question

State Pensions are considered to be a Benefit,

Opinions Please

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

NO. NO. NO.

They cannot take a single penny!

Name names please and give us the story, who is it, what do they want and have they been talking to you or simply threatening you by their silly little missives?

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Thanks for the response, this is Hypothetical in as much that in my opinion Benefits should never be used to pay any debts as that is not what they are designed for.Hence my comment about the State Pension this is a Benefit, and I should imagine many of us use this to pay of debts through say DMPs.

Just seeking opinions

Many thanks

FS

Well that's a given and obvious ....but if its your only source of income and it keeps the wolf from the door...but most importantly the debt is justified and you owe it.

I think there might be a difference between means tested benefits and other welfare payments. However unless either you agree, or a court orders then no payments can be forced.

Any opinion I give is from personal experience .

And by the evidence of this forum, it is often for the nominal amount such as £5 a month in the first place that the court order (Or attachment of earning)!  Which I know isn't much but could be enough to completely overwhelm people if they just find themselves in an awkward position through sheer chance or anything else out of their control, which those in a position do not always expect.
