I sent a parcel for a return via Hermes on the 11th of jan and the value was £188.

I only paid extra for signature required when they deliver it to the address.

I called them on the 26th to find out where my parcel is and after waiting for over 40 mins they opened their phone and said that it has been stolen from the van with some other packages on the 15th of jan. They did not try to contact me at all to notify me of this.

They sent me a claim form however they said that because I didn't pay for insurance I only get £20 plus delivery fee.

I saw a similar case here that had managed to get their money back by threatening them that they'd take them to court under consumers rights act

I was wondering whether I could do the same since they weren't responsible with delivering my package and allowed for it to be stolen.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated

Thank you

yes you can

ignore their silly insurance or not.

simply all smoke and mirrors.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Don't worry about it. Hermes try to wriggle out of every piece of obligation that they have.

As soon as you put your parcel into the care of Hermes, it is up to them to look after it and if they are careless or if there staff are criminal – then it is up to them to deal with the problem. They can't pass the buck onto their customers.

Can you tell us more about the dates, what it was, value – et cetera.

Have you got a formal rejection of your claim from Hermes on the basis that it was stolen? Please could you post up in PDF.

If you have some other notification from Hermes that it was stolen from the van then please can you post that up in PDF format. We would love to see it.

Spend some time reading around a good dozen or so of the Hermes threads on this sub- forum so that you understand how it all goes. You're pretty well guaranteed to get your money back – but Hermes as usual will spend more than the value of it trying to block you.

I don't know what Hermes business model is but it makes no economic sense to me to spend so much time trying to deprive their customers of what they are entitled to along with the reputational risk.

Once you have read around the Hermes stories and also once you have read about how to bring a small claim in the County Court, come back here and we will take you through it.

It suddenly occurs to me, that you should send Hermes an email and ask them for the crime report number and a copy of the crime report.

I'll bet you there isn't one.

Make the request – we can store that up as part of your case later on. Hermes are really stupid

At the moment I am still waiting for them to get back to me for the claim form. They told me over the phone that they won't be able to provide compensation however, they still haven't replied to the claim form that was sent to me.  I am glad to hear that I can at least try to claim a full compensation in case they don't accept on first attempt.

Thank you

Yes, I think you need to decide who you prefer to believe. Us or them

You should spend your time reading around the other Hermes stories because then you would understand your position
