Hi, I have accidental damage contents insurance and I am not sure if to make a claim for a cracked laptop screen which happened when a family member stood on the laptop.
Could someone advise if I should make the claim which I feel will be about £175 to fix the laptop.

thanks

Yes...why not? That's why you pay an extra premium. They will either cover it or reject due to some exclusion...check your policy.

its really annoying when " children " damage electrical goods

You will have an excess, typically about £100.  So if the value of the laptop repair was £175, you would only receive £75 towards the repair.

And you  may see premium increases of over 20%  per year (guestimate) for a few years, based on this one claim and no more claim being submitted.

So probably not worth it.

The excess amount is very relevant to your decision.

But also bear in mind, each year you are free to compare insurance quotes because staying with the same insurer year on year often costs more.

If you have a recent claim on your history which you must declare, this may limit the number of new insurers that will offer a quote, or increase the premium you're quoted.
