Another curious question more than anything - I understand distance selling allows the car to be returned no questions asked as long as I've not been to see/test/sign at the dealership.  During lockdown, I've noticed a lot of dealerships are offering click and collect where collect must be outside of the premises or delivered to the home.  The latter the 14 day applies but does it also apply for the collecting outside the dealership?

And how does this work for part-ex?  For example, if I has a part-ex, dealer wanted to appraise it outside the premises but I did not see the car I'm buying in person?

Thanks in advance :)

unless you pers get to inspect the car in person then normal 14 days contract rules apply as does 30 days short term right to reject if faulty or SOGA unfit for purpose under cra

distance selling regs / SOGA went into CRA in 2015.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

excellent thank you

And is the 1 year if they don't tell me about the 14 day still going on?

With only 2 weeks to go and assuming lockdown is over, it's not worth looking into now but do find it amusing you cant have a test drive but could just buy and return within 14 days if purchased online - yes there is the faff with payments/refunds/pickup/drop off etc.

It just surprised me how many cars dealerships are selling and from what I'm being told, it's on a blind purchase without any prior testdrive

So far as I'm aware, if the seller doesn't notify you pre-contract in a durable medium of the 14 day "distance sale", then 14 days is extended to a year.  I think it was touched upon in passing here:

Remember, the seller can deduct an amount from your refund if you have handled or used the goods more than is necessary to determine their nature and function.  So you probably couldn't "test drive" it for a 100 miles per day for ten days without a significant reduction.

Brilliant thanks !

And absolutely, this would be more around 30 miles test-drive if it happened so I could test slow/fast roads.  It was all hypothetical and with the lockdown hopefully easing, I should be hopefully purchasing after the test-drive but should dealerships not open, the above would be my only option
