It is now coming up to 1 year since since i was arrested and firstly released on bail before then being released under investigation.  Apparantley this is due to the backlog of cases at the forensic science service due to covid and i'm told it will be 2021 before any dna evidence is available.  Is there any ombudsman/complaints procedure or anything i can do ?

Go back to the Police and ask for an update.

Suggest that you do this is writing to the investigating officer.

Depending on the nature of the offence, you may wish to obtain legal advice,  as there may be issues regarding the evidence being assessed over a period.  If there are delays in assessing the evidence, there could be arguments that it is detrimental to you defending any actions in the future.

We could do with some help from you.
