Bus lane contravention PCN x3 so far

Hi there,

 

I have been passing on Tulse Hill daily on the way to work and started receiving PCN's. (Lambeth Parking) issued first one dated on 16/09/2020, 18/09/2020, 21/09/2020 and I am sure there are more to follow.

 

The sign has been recently changed and I never paid any attention to this as been using the same bus lane for years.

 

Is there anything that can be done as the amount of charges is absurd.

I have a question please. Are you using a normal vehicle and why are you driving in a bus lane?

From a quick google it seems that bicycles can use bus lanes or have I misunderstood something? How were the tickets delivered to you please?

Appeal against them by writing to the council which issued them, you have 21 days to appeal from when you received them through the post.

Well, yeah, not saying that an appeal has any chance of success but that's the process to challenge them. Not seeing the sign is no excuse.

Thanks for the replies. Apologies this was on a motorbike, not bicycle. This is the sign that I attached. This was recently changed as it was different before that allowed motorbikes to use the bus lane.

I think you're stuck with the first one at least.  You could try making representations against the others along the lines that you unknowingly missed the change in signage, and that because of the delay between you committing the first infraction and receiving the first PCN, you were unaware of what you had done wrong and had no opportunity to change your driving for the four subsequent PCNs.

 

Worth a try at least - see what others think.

 

I don't know what the timescales for making informal representations or challenges are.  You'd best check what the PCNs and website say - you may already be too late. 

 

PS  Unless you know for sure that you are allowed to ride a motorcycle in a London bus lane, it's a very risky thing to do.  It can vary between boroughs and you need to account for TFL too.
