Hi,

I'm trying to claim back bank charges from Abbey & sent my prelim letter to them last week. I've received 2 almost identical replies from 2 different people in 2 different departments at Abbey both stating they're looking into my complaint and will write to me again within 4 weeks. I don't know which would be the best to reply to, can anyone help?

The first letter was from Marc Winder, Head of Complaints and the second letter was from Antony Turbitt, Business Manager Banking Servicing. I phoned the complaints dept. & they said they are dealing with my case & don't know why I also received a letter from Antony Turbitt. The complaints dept. letter actually shows a contact number in England & the other letter shows the normal 08459724724 number so I think it would be easier to deal with the complaints dept as they'll understand me when I call. Does anyone know which department would be the best to handle this or shall I just send my reply to both?

Hi, I am in the final stages of reclaiming, it does not really matter who you send the letters to, as it seems to be someone different at every stage, but make sure they go recorded or special delivery to their registered address, which is below, Don't bother phoning them or waiting x amount of days on their letters just stick to the plan in frequent asked questions/stage by stage.

Abbey National Bank plc

Abbey House

2 Triton Square

Regent’s Place

London, NW1 3AN.

Thanks a lot for your reply, that's a big help. Perhaps Abbey are just trying to confuse me (from reading other threads I think they do that a lot). I'm determined to follow this through to the end & will reply to the main address as you suggest. Cheers & best of luck with your claim.

The address where I am communicating with and this is the team that have been set up especially to deal with the bank charges issue:-

BANKING SPECIALIST TEAM

PO BOX 5885

MILTON KEYNES

MK10 1FA.

Good luck with your claim, I have just had a refund of £385 against almost £7K so I am fighting on.

I tried to send a recorded delivery to this address and it seems to have gotten "lost" with no trace. I queried with the Post Office and they said that postcode doesnt exist for the Abbey and the letter will be returned to me as undeliverable.

I resent it Next Day Delivery and it seems to have gotten through. I have sent copy to Head Office & local branch just to be on the safe side.

I do not understand that as that is the address I am comunicating with and have had a response. Anyway, if your letter has now got through that is good. Good Luck with your claim.

I think that them sending responses from different addresses and the 'lost' post are delay tactics!

My suggestion is, whatever address you use, send the letter 'signed for' and then if it doesn't show as delivered on the Royal Mail site within a reasonable time take 2 copies of the letter into your local branch, get one of the staff to sign and stamp both copies, ask them to put one in the internal post and keep the other for your records.
