Hi

Are Coast still in business?

At the beginning of lockdown they agreed to the 3 month furlough on payments as per government. Last payment was in March.

I have not had a single letter or phone call from them to discuss re-starting payments even though my main mortgage has done. I am loathed to contact them, as they are the most atrocious company to reach. I am just worried in case they turn around and accuse me.

I did get them to look into my account as I complained as took 25k out in 2005 and 15 years later, no missed payments (until covid) and still got £7800 left!!

They said nothing wrong, but reading on here will request a CCA as I know they say I have £800 arrears due to charges....which is BS as I got PPI rebated when was still welcome about 5 years ago and cleared all arrears....but seems despite no missed payments, I still have £800 charges!

Kind of hope the miserable company has gone bust.

I don't know.

Connected to Welcome for me.

Did just read KPMG froze all payments to Welcome last year, which states legally no interest or charges can occur ....just unsure how that relates if Coast took it over.

I just posted about swift, I am also conected to welcome for a car that broke down, I also dont understand why companies are changing their name and allowed to .

I hope you get your issue sorted out and I know that unknown companies would not help with mortgage payments during pandemic maybe they are obligated to?

ah ok.

Welcome didn't change their name, they went bust and Coast bought the debts...unlike Ocean who refused me ppl saying different company now..

..yeah I think Coast did but the fact it was only for 3 months and not had a letter or call, am concerned they will suddenly just come to me, saying I am in arrears for months of missed payments...which I am sure they would do as they are evil.

why paying at all? - Didn't think had a choice!

Been paying them the same I was paying Welcome.

Been paying them for couple years now.

They have a deed on my house.

Financed for £15k in 2005 with Welcome, but looked to consolidate more and refinanced to £25k in 06.

Everything was done face to face in their office near here. (closed down couple years before Welcome went bust).

Forced into PPI as told could not have loan without it.

They did give us some PPI back,  Payments dropped from £400 a month to £260 a month.

Welcome office told us we could have payment holiday and add to end of loan. (when I missed those payments).

The PPI refund cleared all fees for missed payments (there had been a few as my wife became and continues to be ill and cannot work). That PPI must be about 5-6 years ago now.

That left ca £9000 to pay.

Been paying regularly since then.

They switched to Coast finance, continued paying £260.

I then increased it to £300 as they claimed I had £1300 of arrears.

I asked them this year to look at that, explaining I cannot have arrears as Welcome told me it was payment holiday not classed as arears, but Coast "investigated" found nothing wrong except list of charges and interest.

Current balance is circa £7800.

Due to COVID, asked them to furlough the payments as per Government guideline and they reluctantly did so....saying they would be in touch after 3 months to discuss payments etc, 6 months now and not a word from them.

Reading on the internet and a lot of people are saying don't pay them at all!

KPMG who took over Welcome administration said that all payments frozen last year and non should be made.

But then also heard stories where Coast have pursued eviction and repossession.

most of the repo's were because people had no idea what they were doing.

have you ever sent welcome an sar to get all the statements and everything they hold on you and get reclaiming?

all fixed sum fees are unlawful and reclaimable

type in coast in our search top right and get reading up.

particularly the cruz thread

thanks...I have been reading a lot on them. I got a SAR from Coast as wanted all info they had, and lots of fixed sum fees of £25 and £50 in there.

Thanks - I will go and have a read

also - non of the agreements I have been sent have signatures on them. Barely legible too.

Send coast a CCA request.

But your issue is the charge.

I will gather like the others you did get court notification the charge is now in coast's name.??

And have you a main mortgage. As this will be a 2nd charge only.

ok I will do that.

I asked for one via email or phone earlier this year and thats when got fobbed off with their internal investigation and need to check and can't recall ever receiving the info requested!

Court notification?

Did I hell.

All we ever had was a letter from Welcome saying they were transferring the loan to Coast and then Coast saying they were now the owners.

Should I have had court notification?

Yes, this is 2nd charge as got main mortgage

does it mean it cannot be upheld if I didn't get letter from court?

I also checked and the information they sent me after my request for all info on file....was just statements dating back to March 2019....absolutely nothing of what I requested of the info from my entire loan at Welcome.
