Got home last night to a hand delivered letter from jacobs to say they going to come back for removal within 24 hours

i called agent on the letter this morning to make an arrangement to pay but she refused and said as its at enforcement stage & ive failed to communicate with them i cant make arrangement they need £730 in full.

Im a self employed beautician and only been back to work a month now theres still some treatments i cant do as im in a local lockdown area. My income isnt even half what it was before covid, I said i didnt have that kind of money as ive been off work 4 months i asked her when she would be coming next as i 3 children & have 2 teenagers still at home while i work and i dont want them in house alone when she comes next, she said she couldnt give me that information.

I got a bit upset as i didnt know what to do she only wanted full nothing else, I get a universal credit top up still i told her the earliest i would have a chunk of money like that was 9th sept when uc pay me i could give her my rent money.

She refused saying she cant accept rent as thats priority.

i asked to arrange a date for her to come round when kids werent here thinking if they come in and take goods or rather see i dont have much to take it will get it over with quicker but she said they arent allowed to enter my property at the minute it could be another few weeks. Then she let slip they due to call today. She told me there wasnt anything more she could help me with & hung up.

i dont know what she wants me to do, she cant come in to take goods, i have no money, she cant accept an arrangement & she wont take my rent money but is still Going to keep coming round to scare us.

Ive only had contact with jacobs by email up until now so ive a bit of a timeline if it helps.

8th aug 2019 - i emailed jacobs income & expenditure form they had sent me & offered £60pw
14th aug - jacobs replied asking for £150pw, i replied asking them to review as i could afford that
20th aug - jacobs said they would accept £90pw, i would still struggle so i emailed council and asked for help setting up a £60pw payment plan.
28th aug - council reply they have notified jacobs to accept £60pw
21st oct - enforcement notice recieved in post as im in arrears on the payment plan, i emailed jacobs as i had made every payment since council accepted £60pw
4th nov - jacobs suggested i increase to £70pw to cover the arrears, i deny being in arrears but pay
5th feb - i email jacobs to say i was moving from tax credits to universal credit & had to wait 5 weeks for a payment could i reduce from £70pw to £20pw until payment recieved.
13th feb - jacobs replied accepting £20pw and they wanted to see my uc statement when i got it to review the weekly payment plan.
4th march - i email the universal credit statement as requested
9th march - they reply reducing payments to £128 per month instead of the £70 a week i had been paying.
23rd march - i had to close my business as salons were not allowed to open, looking back now i should have emailed them but at the time it never crossed my mind lockdown panic set in at beginning.
23rd aug- i email jacobs asking to reset up a payment plan for £30 pw
24th aug - jacobs visit

where can i go from here, i dont have £700

There is no right of entry for ctax.

do not invite her in.

why not speak to the council directly. You have suffered due to covid , they should be giving you extra time to pay, esp as it last years bill

why did it not got paid last year?

and are you paying this year ok?

Yes im paying this years I get council tax reduction Help now i didnt on the previous bill ,

my husband used to pay all the bills we split up & i just continued paying what he had been from joint account never questioned it but turned out he had paid the bill 2017/18 in full & he was paying a previous ctax debt monthly so i was only paying off that debt and nothing off The 2018/19 bill.

will they keep adding fees everytime they visit?

I did get letters but was struggling after we split so letters went months unopened as i couldnt cope, i felt i was back on top if everything until covid, i will contact the council, am i best doing this by phone or email?

Bailiff can only add £75 for the notice of enforcement and then £235 when if they attend.. Max fees are £310 total. No more can be added

Ring the council ctax unit.

I sound like a broken record around these parts but what I say works.  Email and call your local elected councillor, explaining everything, including all of your circumstances, explaining that it's not possible to pay the Bailiffs because you are struggling because of Covid restrictions for the last 4 months and that all you want to do is come to an affordable arrangement.

And as others have said, don't let the Bailiffs in, nowt they can do, they are not the same ones as what you see on Channel 5 documentaries

We could do with some help from you.

Just make sure any car is either locked in a garage, or parked away from your home, as stated they can't force entry and inviting them in is a bad idea,so can easily clamp a car to put pressure on.
