Found old Postal Order 2009 is it still valid ?

Hy note sure if this is right place, I found a uncashed PO for me £10.00 , is it still valid [not for cashing as out of date] but can i send to PO for the £10, or has it just died away in the ether many thanks

According to this article in the Telegraph the Post Office will consider refunding out of date POs on a case-by-case basis

However, they quote the Post Office as saying 

 

“Postal orders are valid for six months from the original purchase date and following that they are reviewed on a case-by-case basis before they can be cashed in. The time that has passed since expiration is one factor that we take into consideration."

 

So I reckon a PO dating back to 2009 will be pushing your luck but you never know. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! As long as you haven't turned it into hamster bedding yet

 

I couldn't see a specific form that lets you request payment but there is a general Postal Orders enquiry form you could try.
