Hi,

I recently have been trying to apply for a loan and have discovered I have a defaulted account with Three from 2016.

After some confusion, it turns out that it is from when I was a guarantor on a phonebill for my ex-girlfriend 4 years ago.

As far as I was aware, all payments were made and on time.

I have contacted Three about this and they have stated that there aren't any payments to be made.

My issue is that I haven't received any emails, phonecalls or letters about the payments, ever.

Yet it is still a defaulted account which is having a big impact on my credit score.

Am I still at fault, as I haven't had any contact about the payments being late or owed?

Is there any way to get this removed?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

so at some point she must of had payment issues and they came after you as guarantor, and because they didn't have your correct details, they went to whatever address was correct when you guaranteed payments.

not much you can do sadly.

a single default should not harm anything really.

me thinks the loan co don't want you imho.

who and what for?

Yes I later found out she has had payment issues, but the address they have is my parents address so I still would receive anything they sent to me. They 100% have never sent anything to my address, and I've had the same mobile number for about 11years and ive never received a phone call either, same email address too. I have never received any form of contact.

Well the single default has dropped my credit score by around 220 on Experien.

I wanted a loan of around £7000 for a car. Confused and the like have only suggested like 50% APR loans. I tried to go through RBS who ive been with for 11years, and they declined me for poor credit.
I have had loans and rent/bills, that have all always been paid on time. I have never missed a single payment, yet this defaulted account has hammered my credit rating :(

you'll only ever be poked to people like moneybarn etc that are all +40% via most online site.

have you had any running credit in the last few years?

i've had none and that killed my score just as bad as a default would.

they cant see you can have money management skills bar the default.

the other thing to remember is covid is killing credit approval too and ofcourse they can use the poor rating excuse.
