Hello,

in a nutshell, in January we booked 2 rooms in a hotel in Brighton for 19th -21st May (just gone)

the hotel was closed so they could not let us stay.

In April we asked for a refund (twice by email) and were ignored completely.

So on 12th May I checked their web page which still stated they were closed, and once again asked by email for a full refund.

No reply.

I have contacted my bank for a chargeback yesterday, and hey presto today the hotel replied to my 12th May email and offered me an accomodation voucher for the next 12 months.

I have replied it is not acceptable and want a full refund.

Am I correct in being able to demand a full refund? I know it is not the hotels fault, but neither is it mine, and I cannot go in the next 12 months.

Where do I stand?

Many thanks...

The cheeky buggers wrote to my good lady as they have her email address, and enclosed a pdf voucher ..

She has promptly written back, sayin, as my husband said yesterday, a full refund is wanted.

Is this a way of trying to get out of the charge back??

They have written back and said they cannot offer a refund at the moment..

The chargeback is still in progress, but there are a lot of them being done, so may take a few weeks. Can the hotel stop the chargeback?
