Tax Credit and Universal Credits Shambles

I get what you want to happen, but its legislation and very unlikely to be reversed. I have signed it though as I wholeheartedly agree that it is a shambles.

Has been raised in the House of Commons yesterday.  Secretary of state for DWP has promised action will be taken.  Legislation would be required, so that HMRC can re-open Tax credits claims, where someone has made an error in claiming UC.  ( I am not saying that they promised legislation.  They have not said what actions they intend)

 

Let your local MP of your particular case details, so they can raise it.

 

Also to be aware of, is that Government have apparently lost cases in the Lower Courts Tribunal recently according to reports, where the Court has told Government to take actions.  Have not seen the actual decision notice to know what actions were required. It may be that HMRC had to re-open the TC claim, once confirmation was received that the UC claim was closed.
