hi

i had a battle with natwest over a business account overdraft that was part of my bankruptcy, in the end i had to set up a monthly payment plan,

move forward 2 years and they suddenly contact me out of the blue to explain it was a mistake and i should not of been paying anything back

,i thought at first it was some kind of mistake,

they refunded what i had paid over the last few years in full and told me to cancel the standing order immediately as to avoid any more payments leaving my account

,im livid as this payment that i was making really impacted on my living costs and budget etc etc,

i argued with them at the start but to no avail

,just more threats of legal action etc etc,

the reason i came here was to share my experience and to see if i can or should, take this further and claim from natwest,

i havent a clue where to start or if i should at all,

anyone with any knowledge or tips they want to give me would be much appreciated

and they

  • 1 month later...

well, you have a better experience with NatWest than I do, they defaulted my loan even though I was offering them £200 out of £337/month, to the tune of £32,000 adding on all the interest on top. They still think that I owe them £11,000 16 years later!

what i'm say is, they refunded you, but ofcourse you have been deprived of investing this monthly sum since each instalment was paid, so, they should have also given you statutory interest at simple 8%APR from each returned payments date....did they?
