I cancelled the services of this outfit due to several issues but they are persistent in pursuing the deferred payment.

My question is this, if they did not do an identity check or a proof of ownership check as is a basic legal requirement, am I entitled to cancel their services due to their illegal practices without penalty?

Thanks in advance

Thanks Andy, I had heard about close brothers so asked them upfront if I was taking out a loan which they assured me I was not. I have a record of this. Yet it appears that they just changed to another company.

The way I see it is that I entered into a contract with a company to provide a service. Those terms were breached when I didn't get the agreed service. Am I within my rights to cancel the services of a company who are acting illegally by not following money laundering regulations?

Just cancel it...if they thinks their terms and conditions are legal lawful and fair...they can issue a court claim...and you can defend it.

We could do with some help from you.

Yes, this is what I will do. Just need help with interpreting the law in regard to a company flouting their legal obligation and whether or not that renders the contract null and void.  They didn't even check documentation proving I had the right to sell the property or if I was even the person I claimed to be! Thanks for your replies.
