Hello,

Can someone help me please?

I went to Woking during the week and due to all the road works there,

I went into an alleged bus lane,

although I didn't see any signs stating it was buses only or I was in a bus lane.

I could have been distracted and didn't see the signage but would be grateful if someone can advise if I can challenge this?

I've attached the two photographs that came with the PCN.

Thank you in advance for any help or advice you might be able to give.

  • dx100uk changed the title to Woking High Street - Being in a Bus Lane - Code 34J

The signs are visible in the second photo. Streetview image here has them - no idea if they are legal/compliant. Hopefully someone will be able to give you a view on this.

Hello Migster,

Thank you for posting Street view, I tried to look at Street view earlier but I could not find the high Street.

I was just visiting Woking that day.

I thought Bus Lanes were marked as such, this one obviously isn't.

This is a no entry to all vehicles apart from the ones stated on the sign.

Thank you again

It isn't just a bus lane, though, is it.

Signage, both sides of the road : 7am-9pm (and the photo suggests this was at 16:08?) , local buses, cycles, and authorised vehicles........

so, not a bus lane, but restricted vehicles.......

The signs reinforced by the "all routes" "turn right ahead" white arrow on the road ......

One of the site's experts MIGHT be able to find where the arrow and signs are non-compliant, but I wouldn't "bet my house on it".

The "all routes" wording has gone as of May 2019, but the "turn right ahead" arrow remains.....

what does the temporary sign on the road say?

What was the contravention code?

what does the list of codes say about such a restriction?

What I have read refers to bus lanes so more digging required.

you may beat this if the code isnt the right one as then the offence cannot have occurred.(regardless of what you did do wrong)

Hello Ericsbrother,

Thank you for replying to this thread.

I don't recall the temporary sign on the road.

Shall I scan the whole document and post it on here?

I don't ever drive on a bus lane that's why this PCN has taken me back a bit.

Looking at the street view kindly posted by Migster,

I would admit that I did do wrong but I can't believe it was a bus lane.

The contravention code was 34J

PDF only read upload carefully

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

code 34 is general across all councils for being in a bus lane ....but what does the J mean for your council

it must be stated on the enforcement/PCN section of their webportal somewhere.

The J suffix means camera enforcement

Hello Michael,

Thank you for replying to this thread, I appreciate it.

I called Woking council this lunchtime and got clarification that it's not a Bus Lane per se but it's a "Bus Gate". I don't know what the difference is between the two but I explained that I avoid driving in bus lanes even when the time restriction is not in place.

The lady said as a "one off" she would waive the PCN on this occasion.

Thank you everyone for you time and helping with this
