As if that wasn't bad enough, TJ, Door Matt is taking personal charge of the Covid vaccine programme. :(

Is that some sort of attempt on his part to imply he isnt to blame for all the f*** ups and wasted taxpayer money and lives so far?

He's the health minister the buck on all this stops with him - as Johnson will claim.

OpenDemocracy have used FOI requests to establish that Johnson has set up a secret task force to plan a shake up of the NHS. No public health experts on the task force, but they have the McKinsey consultant who was in involved in the unpopular 2012 Lansley reorganisation that sold of a fair amount of the NHS to the private sector.

In mid-pandemic they do this... Clearly Bozo has forgotten how grateful he was to the NHS when they looked after him during his Covid crisis.

I don't know, TJ, sorry. I'm not having a problem although that's no comfort to you.

The best thing is probably to post in the Questions and Suggestions forum for further comment.

Its possibly that the code calculates pages based on all the crap cluttering up the pages - which I got rid of so I could actually read 3 line plus posts without paging ...

Back on subject, nearly everyone I've spoken with in the last few days, all of whom have supported lock downs and restrictions even though all (and their loved ones) have been negatively impacted by it

Now say Johnson can shove his rules up his backside

A variety of reasons but most include

He does nothing in all the time that the lockdowns give him and people just come out of lockdowns into worse or at best nothing changed or improved unless its by fluke or summer weather - which is long gone.

They all believe that they understand the issues and manage them to keep themselves, their friends and loved ones safe and healthy - including social connections

and an interesting common point

That Johnson is just avoiding putting real money into the actual NHS to get things done properly and would rather throw money anywhere else into his pals hands

I see your point, TJ. HMG has frittered away any time it's had given to it in 2020; warnings from Italy when they were about two weeks ahead of the UK and two lockdowns, to source PPE and get a functioning test and trace system in place.

Far more people are saying they should just listen to local public health people and organise things locally but of course that doesn't give money to Tory cronies. Local public health people could possibly organise a better tiers system rather than clamp down on entire counties as well.

A more controversial point is that Johnson has made it illegal to look after your family, requiring you to choose between them.

No one I know doubts or questions that people hosting raves and such like should be prosecuted given the situation, just as those gathering for fox hunts and grouse shoots should be,

but effectively making people who are simply trying to safely and sensibly look after their own into criminals while the government pals do whatever they like and are thrown taxpayer money by the BILLION for nothing is obnoxious and abhorrent,

especially when you can go to a restaurant or supermarket or transport hub and be in close contact with hundreds of strangers.

Oh look - 6 + 1 in close contact from 14+ households and only one wearing a mask - leading by appallingly bad example.

example

You have an aged parent/grandparent, with compromised immune in a separate household

You have children, with children which you help with to school and after school - in separate households all at work none on furlough

Your other half (second partner) has the same

Want to count how many 'laws' you are breaking by assisting with grandchildren from 2-4 different households, alongside two aged parents in two separate households

Let alone the pair of you then seeing each other

Let alone actually seeing any of your friends ..

Let alone the other members of your family seeing each other

Its a common situation HB

... In how many laws broken how many times - yes somewhat complex

In caring and supporting your own its quite simple and straight forward

It enables the younger members to work and school, while giving care to the older members, who have mainly lost their prior anchors

- Nothing strange ... although Johnsons' monsters seem to be unaware or uncaring ...

Any in such a situation will of course have ALL their owns health and safety as the paramount consideration.

I see Gove is now saying - obey the lockdown or the NHS will be overwhelmed

Shame Gove Handcock and Johnson didnt actually properly fund and prepare the NHS in the 6 months they have had with the previous and current lockdowns then?

Nor is there any expectaion, let alone assurances, that they would they in any further lockdown

- Everyone expects they will just throw billions more in Taxpayer money at their mates to 'create' shell nightingale hospitals, undelivered or inadequate PPE and call centers with staff watching i'm a celebrity, while people die alone and 'come out' of the lockdown to worse.

As announcements spread regarding additional f***-ups resulting in 1.300 people wrongly told to isolate, and atrociously poor contact levels missing thousands of people who SHOULD be told to isolate ..,

LONDON (Reuters) - "The British government announced a 7-billion-pound ($9.3-billion) increase in funding for its COVID-19 testing and contact tracing system"

This strategy is backed by an additional 7 billion (pounds) for Handcock and Sercos Test and Trace to increase profits and continue to improve profits,

"taking the overall funding provided for Test and Trace this financial year to £22 billion (pounds)," the government said in its COVID-19 winter plan, published on Monday.

So anyway, Johnson, Gove, Handcock and co have apparently squandered £350 BILLION so far on lockdowns and giving their pals huge wodges of money to not supply quality PPE and trace services - increasing at the rate of around £6 BILLION a week.

Already Very nearly 3x the NHS annual budget

So who thinks that simply doubling the NHS and local trace services budget, and saving £200BN would have delivered a more effective response, saved lives, reduced lockdowns, managed and reduced the spread and limited the impact on the economy compared to how Johnson and Handcock (and Sunack) have mismanaged the situation?

That not hindsight - its just using the existing services effectively rather than throwing British taxpayer money at cronys and pals for Sweet Fanny Adams

Chris Giles of the FT is tweeting again about his calculation of the excess deaths figure. His conservative estimate is at 80,000, sadly.

https://twitter.com/ChrisGiles_?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author

The actuaries' figure a week ago was 64,900 and I'm not sure why the figures are some way apart this time.

https://www.actuaries.org.uk/news-and-insights/news/cmi-s-2020-excess-deaths-estimate-reaches-new-high

The ONS are talking about almost 64,000, so nearer to the actuaries' numbers.

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/conditionsanddiseases/articles/coronaviruscovid19roundup/2020-03-26

I wonder if some of the discrepancy is over whether Covid is mentioned on the death certificate or not.

I'm not finding it easy to locate HMG's figure, I think it's a little under 59,000.

yep somwhere between 75.000 - 80,000 deaths directly related to covid - and thousands more indirectly

The reality reported end last month:

"Concerns have been raised about the risk of disruption to supplies of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine and added costs after the drugs company shut a cold storage facility in the south of England ahead of the end of the Brexit transition period next month."

That sounds like desperation to spin something positive from Brexit. Sadly, they're starting a campaign to ask people to trust them on the vaccine and they've started off with a lie.
