I assume theres still an interpretive element to the fine to allow necessary get outs for the privileged?

* I needed to test my socialising skills before actually needing to rely on them once the lockdown ends

* I needed to test my eyesight to see if it still worked with more than 6 people

* I have a medical condition which means I have to be surrounded by people, horses and dogs when outside taking my exercise - heres a hundred guinea note from my Harley street specialist to prove it

Outstanding Questions the Government need to answer

If Hancock and sercos test and trace has a (repeatedly claimed) capacity of 240,000/300,000 a day :

Why are only 81,000 people a day being tested?

Every single minister that has claimed that capacity needs to be held responsible for an answer

- thats well in excess of 1 MILLION tests a week unaccounted for

If they are charging the UK taxpayer for 240-300,000 tests a day and paying serco for capacity that isnt there

Surely its fraud

From what I can gather, which may be wrong or incomplete

The saliva test is supposed to be cheaper, easier and quicker to implement and check than the swab tests (projected at $10 in USA)

BUT only effectively tests for infection in the upper respiratory tract - ie is readily spreadable by coughs and sneezes etc

hence only 'validly flags people as 'not currently spreading via coughs and sneezes and only that for a limited time - perhaps a day tops.

Not sure how its supposed to check whether people are 'sweating' it out although it does seem likely that if people are sweating it - they would have it in the upper respiratory tracts - seems a reasonable assumption to me as a 'none virologist' .

I'm not sure how certain it is that upper tract infections are the first - although it does seem likely in many or perhaps most cases

Not really how it was originally 'sold' - but nothing new with that

It likely it uses relatively portable testing machines to test locally rather than send them off as in the reports of the 'Southampton' tests

As for charging everyone for it ..

Just another way of taxing the NHS/care industry who along with schools and shop staff (IMO) would benefit the nation/community most by having it - other than that it just largely seems to be enabling the wealthy to bypass restrictions have their days out grousing and stag'ing

.. as Dodo told the CBI

“For that sort of test that may be a normal cost of doing business to be able to have non-socially distanced activities, but that’s different than for symptomatic people who should always feel like they can come to an NHS service.”

I guess we can expect ‘clarification’ from the PM tonight while the sky fills with flying pigs.

My best guess on further measures:

You can cross parish boundaries as long as you hop on one foot whilst humming happy birthday

Cars can move between different boroughs with differing restrictions as long as the combined ages of the occupants total no more than 90 years

If your journey involves crossing county boundaries you need to download a government approved eye test chart and use this as your permit to travel.

Matt Hancock ‘regrets’ not knowing asymptomatic people can spread disease despite Sage warning

Strange that current policies like not testing unless symptomatic still seem to 'rely' on that then

The left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hand is doing, TJ...

I can't figure out if changing the rules on an almost daily basis is to keep us all guessing or basic incompetence.

What did you think of what Boris said last night, guys? My main takeaway from it that it's all the public's fault.

I have absolutely no idea what the rules are at the moment - I've actually, genuinely given up trying to understand them.

It seems its:

No more than six in a gathering - even outdoors in gardens - unless you are grouse shooting or some other exemption like eating out or in a pub

No mixing of family households - even outdoors/gardens or a  pub - unless you are a grandparent looking after kids while the parents are at work or you simply claim you dont know each other

Madness

The asylum actually is run by the lunatics

note - I can keep changing the above around and it still seems to 'be the rules + not make sense

All it seems to be is

Plebs you are locked down and will be fined

Special cases carry on grouse shooting. stag hunting, travelling between multiple homes/estates, and jumping from country to country to get where you want to go taking advantage of interpretations of the twisted word of the law

+ soon to be = especially if you can pay for a get out of lockdown free test funded by taxpayer money which is most certainly not for the plebs to use up

How about you can have 30 people at a funeral but only 15 at a wedding? What if all the guests at the wedding wear black?

Or are they hoping that people at funerals will generally be older so it's a chance to get rid of a few more of them? Part of me wonders if the Tories wouldn't mind losing a lot of older or vulnerable people and reduce the pensions bill.

ETA: One commentator said they think the imposition of £1000 fines would put some people going for a test at all because they can't afford to take time off work and don't want to get into the system, especially not if it leads to a fine.

Me too some of the policies and actions do bring doubt to the incompetence excuse in light of common sense and scientific evidence

- especially with the reiteration that covid positive OR no test result received older folk SHOULD/MUST still be sent back to care homes..

Covid 19 action plan:

"1:30 We are mindful that some care providers are concerned about being able to effectively isolate COVID-positive residents, and we are determined to make sure discharges into nursing or social care do not put residents currently in those settings at risk.

We can now confirm we will move to institute a policy of testing all residents prior to admission to care homes. This will begin with all those being discharged from hospital and the NHS will have a responsibility for testing these specific patients, in advance of timely discharge.

Where a test result is still awaited, the patient will be discharged and pending the result, isolated in the same way as a COVID-positive patient will be (paragraph 1.32).  "

"1.31  We expect that a period of specialist NHS rehabilitation and recovery will be needed for many individuals who have suffered from COVID-19, especially older people. Thanks to the successful discharge policy to date ...... "

Now I think a few thousand relatives of people who died of Covid or covid complications in care homes would challenge that last bit.

And as its all your fault people if you don't obey ze orders, ve vill have no choice but to deploy the Para's like its 1972 Belfast.  Mind you if they were deployed in London, and the MET got in the way, the Paras would trample the MET as well.

Trumps effectively been doing it with Federal forces

Johnson will have to carefully select the generals and officers though

- Erdogan could give him some tips

- although Turkey wont be joining the EU any time soon, I'm sure Erdogan would be happy to loan Johnson some troops and officers as 'advisers

- for banking immunity and visa concessions in Singapore on Thames next year perhaps

I noticed quite a few 'water cannon' type military vehicles being driven on Scottish motorways yesterday.

Any advice I give is honest and in good faith.:)

My flu jab is next weekend

As a relevant aside - I've been keeping watch on my temperature and it would seem I'm one of those who has a slightly lower 'normal' core temperature although my skin commonly tends to be quite warm - although still well below what has been reported as covid temps.

Anybody who thinks sergeant major Briggs is going to be standing on every street corner with a sub machine gun, interogating nutty old Doris for not wearing a mask is seriously deluded.

Army will be on standby to drive tankers for food deliveries etc, logistics to set up field hospitals e.g NIghtingale as before. That is it!

London,

Johnsons 'proposals/implications were more than that although other MP's have pressed that that is all that it should be - logistics support

The issue is that Johnsons statements implied more - he is a liar - but is well capable and willing to break precedents, convention  and laws as we have seen

Common decency doesn't even get a look in with him.
