Hi Terrified Debt I have recieved exactly the same generic letter early last week. 

I need to call today or tomorrow please can I ask did they just want information for the year they asked ? As I have a large problem with mine. 

I still have childcare on my award this year but wasn’t aware until this letter came. I haven’t had childcare since Oct 18.

This letter is for Apr 19- now so do I tell them I’ve had no childcare in the period asked for or say since Oct 18. There are conflicting posts many saying they were only querying that year and they could have gone back years etc. Thankyou for any advice you can offer x

As tempting as it is, mine also stated April 2019, I told them it was back to jan 2019.

 

Whilst the lady said she was only concerned with this year, she did the back office will deal with the previous time. I’ve since received an amended claim. I also had the element that I hadn’t updated my to a joint. 
 

in all honesty, as scary as it is, the lady was fine on the phone didn’t judge or ask why I’d not reported it. I apologised profusely and now I know that I’m not going to receive a check asking about previous years and be in the same position. If I’d have not backdated it to jan I’d have always been worried about if it got found out or if they did check it.

i just didn’t  know what to do as other posts state only to give them the info/ period they are asking for.

Does that mean the back office will be in touch h with you for the other period or have you had both years amended now x and did they charge you a penalty for your overpayment, forgetting to tell them ?

Just tell them the truth, and what they need to know. You may end up having to pay something back.

Just find out how much / if you owe anything.  If you do they will either take a small percentage off your current award or you will end up paying an affordable amount per month.

I just told them everything and then nothing can come back and I’m not going to be worried about it.

This is your chance to get away with it so to speak, with only an overpayment and no further action taken, as harsh as that may sound.

 

Ring them, tell them what happened and sort out a repayment plan and the matter is dealt with.

Thankyou for all you’re replies I’ve done this the lady said it will Be cancelled off from Apr 19 and they will issue the award notice with overpayment even though I advised her from October 18 ?

I would honestly ring and check to make sure it goes back to October 18. It’s better than worrying about it
