Hi all

I have the above vehicle - 67 plate with just under 30K on the clock.

Every now and then when the car is cold I'll get an amber message pop up about transmission limited function or a red warning saying service transmission now. I know the oil change is due at the next service, but this has been happening since I had the car (had 6K when I got it).

It's been into the dealer (Stoneacre) who cannot find any relevant fault codes to indicate an actual fault. I've asked about any software updates, to be told there are none available.

Has anyone come across this?

Without wishing to diminish how worried you might be about this I had a Mondeo Vignale 2.0 TDCI Powershift. The Vignale is a trim level, the mechanics are the same. Anyway I had the same error come up several times, probably more. It's almost certainly a software error and always cleared for me with a restart. It happened from new and was still apparent when I changed it. The gearbox oil and filter change might cure it but might not as well.

Just leave it as to meddle could introduce lots of complications.

If you send me a PM with your full 17 digit VIN I can check the software levels for you.

Could just be a fault on the electronic dashboard. Mines much older than yours but the dashboard goes haywire and throws out all manner of crazy warnings about limited modes etc. The driving is absolutely fine.

A quick Google reveals it’s a loose solder on the circuit board behind the Speedo.

This was apparently a problem on the Focus / Mondeo etc since new. How come they won’t sort yours out under warranty?

We could do with some help from you.

Ok , mine is  55, it's old but they were fixing these under warranty when the cars were brand new.  Aside from that the car is super reliable.
