how did it come about you got this policy?

So do you have correspondence going back to when you started this policy saying why Affinion recommended you should take it out?

Thank you for the explanation. So did Woolwich make written recommendations to you when you took out the policy?

To pay off what?

if you only had a savings account you were protecting nothing of theirs..so i find it really strange they advised you to have this

ok they'd get a backhander for sure, but my thoughts are this wasnt woolwich but someone phoned you claiming to be them.

no there wasnt

i didnt have anything to pay off i just had the woolwich as my bank but when barclays took over the woolwich customers were transferred to barclays

banks are always advertising different things and i thought i was protecting my family if anything happened to me

well if you filled it in

I think you just need to say that you've cancelled the direct debit as you no longer need this cover. Or you can wait until they write to you, as they probably will when the premium isn't paid, and reply then.

If you write now, it doesn't need to be complicated, just express yourself the way that you do here.

ETA As I understand it, your cover is with the Lloyd's syndicate now so I would write to them.
