Earlier this year, I was suffering with mental health issues, leading to a compulsive gambling addiction.

I ended up divorced, on anti-depressants, and in debt on an MBNA credit card.

I explained this to MBNA, who gave me 'breathing space', and then I never heard anything more for a couple of months.

During this time, I had to leave the marital home, I lost my job (subsequently taking lower paid employment), and have spent time trying to rebuild my life, and physical and mental health.

Last week, I received a letter from Moorcroft saying they're dealing with the MBNA debt, and I now owe them the full amount (around £5700).  I admit the debt on my CC was mine, but I was unable to pay MBNA due to the situation I was in.

I'd be grateful for advice on how to deal with the issue, whether to speak with Moorcroft, or deal directly with MBNA?

Many thanks

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

ZERO legal powers on ANY debt.

is this your only potential debt or are there others?

Ok, I won't speak to them, thank you.

This is my only debt, the only other thing is relating to a chargeback involving Barclays Bank, which the Ombudsman 'investigated' and surprisingly found in Barclays favour (even though Barclays previously admitted fault).  But that relates to an old current account.

Thanks for your help

ok good

if you look in the debt collection section of our library

there are various letters, you could send the one regarding pro rata offer to MBNA by royal mail.

make them an offer and stick to it.
