Letter from EOS re: debt I don't know about

Recommended Posts

I have received a Debt Recovery Letter from EOS but I have no idea what or for whom the debt is for.

There is no clue on the letter although it says they have previously sent a Notice of Assignment which I haven't received.

The question is

do I contact them for information as I can't remember anything about this.

If I do owe it and it goes back to pre-2013 it might be statute barred and my opening communication with them could re-open a can of worms.

Any advice please.

Thanks.

you NEVER EVER ring a powerless dca nor talk at your door about any of your supposed debts to any DCA.

they are NOT BAILIFFS

and have

ZERO legal powers.

There is often a common method to these letters regarding unspecified debt.

They get soem old paperwork and go through it to see whatmay have a change of being recoverable so weeding out all of the dead peopel, bankrupts etc. they the send a letter to anyone in the local area with the same or similar names and see who responds. Now when people move house they tend to stay local to where they were before so if they send out 10 letters and they get 8 people saying "nowt to do with us guv" they then ask for evidence of this and go after anyone who doesnt reply or looks like they cant furnish some proof it isnt their debt ( ie living in the same house for 50 years so not moved).

If you respond they will put you on the latter list for further chasing so best ignore this fishing letter and if they decide you are the right person they will be back in touch with some hard evidence. get that wrong and they get doen for breach of the GDPR and other things so they prefer to let people dob themselves in
