convertible insurance advice please (or warning )

Recommended Posts

Hi

I’ve had my rear window vandalised on my soft top and being informed by the insurance co that it’s classed as part of the roof therefore not covered by the glass cover. So I need to make a claim and with my excess and age of car it would be a Cat N

any advice would be appreciated

And maybe if you haven’t got this covered it’s worth a check

thanks

Optu

First of all you need to understand that insurance companies make their money by not paying out – not by paying out.

I would start off by ascertaining whether the rear window was available as a separate part. If it is then trying to get a copy of a diagram from a passbook and send it to the insurer and tell them that it's not part of the roof and it is fitted separately.

If they still don't agree then come back here for some more robust action

Agree with Bankfodder. Only glass if separate component to roof.

Source a replacement from a salvage yard or find a soft roof repair specialist.
