x4l harlands admin fees

I took a 1 month rolling membership with x4l and went twice, so decided to cancel. I cancelled on sept 14 but didn't realise I shouldn't have cancelled my dd (my fault). Yesterday I got an email from harlands saying that I was due them this month's fees plus £25 admin charge = £44.99.

 

I emailed them saying that when I signed up it wasn't made clear to me that there was a 30 day cancellation period - I asked the woman who signed me up and she explicitly said that it would be fine to cancel at any time.

 

My mum's saying that this will ruin my credit rating for the next 6 years now for not paying this direct debit and am a bit worried that they're going to end up taking me to court or destroying my credit rating.

 

Can I have some advice please?

Pay them their cancellation fee. In a letter tell them that you are refusing to pay their admin charge unless they can justify it because you consider that you are only required to reimburse them for actual losses incurred as a result of your breach of contract.

Read our customer services guide and implement the advice there in all future dealings.

You will probably receive letters and threats from Harlands which frankly you can ignore.

Read around this forum about other people's experience with this company.

Pay more attention to the contract you get involved in the future

offer to pay the missed last payment but no admin fess

do this IN WRITING not email.

see the numerous slick132 letters in threads here already

give them 14 days to take up this offer 

then ignore everyone.

Hi Rytor and welcome to CAG

 

Your mother is wrong - this will NOT affect your credit rating at all. Read other threads here about Harlands/CRS and you'll see they are just chancers who threaten lots but actually do nothing.

 

On older threads you'll find my draft letters you can use to offer Harlands the final gym fee but no admin fees.

 

Stay OFF the phone completely and keep everything in writing (by letter) only.

I sent them a letter the other day, today they replied to my email saying that I had to pay the £44.99, should I just ignore the email then?

Success, they dropped their 'admin fee' after receiving my letter this morning.

Will pay membership fee for this month and that will be that. Thanks.

Hi Rytor,

 

Check how much they take using the DD mandate and then cancel the mandate via your bank.

 

If they take any more than the final fee, you can claim the whole amount back via the bank.
