DMP - Default and Late Payment records on credit file

Recommended Posts

Currently I am in a DMP with Stepchange they have been fantastic.

I entered the DMP in January 2018 and have paid off almost 10k up to now.

Most of my creditors defaulted my agreements with them in early 2018 but some are still marking my credit file with a Late Payment entry.

Should I ask them to default or just leave it?

I won't be debt free under my present circumstances until 2023 when the DMP will be complete.

The DMP has given my life back and taken the horrific financial stress away to a large extent.

I just want to be in a position when I come out of the DMP that my credit file will be in a better situation not long after that.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would request they default you on the third missed/short payment date

however late payment markers don't hurt you as such

as potential lenders cant see the calendar section

only the status of the debt in its summary.

hope you sent everyone a CCA request that stepchange are paying 1st.

I will request all default after the third missed payment date, all being well they will fall off my credit file sometime in 2024. I think this is the best approach as under present circumstances late payment markers will be present on my file until 2029. I haven't sent any of my creditors a CCA. Can you tell me why I should do this?

well going back over your threads most seem PDL's from recent times

but some might prove unenforceable?

though we went through all this before with all your other default threads and the irresponsible lending claims you put in...…...

unless late payment is in the status of the entry no-one will see the calendar section. so wont harm you.
