Harlands/Credit Resolution Services fees

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I’m after some advice in regards to emails I’ve received recently.

I received news from my doctor to stop strenuous physical activity due to a heart problem that has gotten progressively worse recently.

I informed my local gym about this through a letter explaining my problems and my intent to cancel my direct debit and highlighting their small print allowing this.

I waited until my next gym payment came out (the 30 day notice requirement) and subsequently cancelled said direct debit.

A few weeks later I was emailed by harlands stating I had cancelled my direct debit without good reason and received the same generic threats you all seem to have received too.

I contacted my local gym and they stated they have not received a letter and told me to deal with harlands if I want the issue resolved. I wrote to harlands/CRS explaining the situation and they have recently written back asking for proof I sent it before I cancelled my DD.

My issue is I sent my naively sent the original hospital documentation and now have no way to prove this was sent.

Harlands/CRS state I now owe £136 in fees and I’m at a loss as to how to resolve this other than biting the bullet and paying them off.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Petit and welcome to CAG

Have a look at this Guide for how to cancel properly next time - https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/topic/383678-cancelling-your-gym-agreement-get-it-right/

Please confirm what gym this is about.

Harlands/CRS are just chancers looking to profit from uninformed folk who take their threats seriously. You will NOT be one of them 'cos you have CAG for backup !! 👍

Thanks for the replies guys.

This is a lifestyle fitness gym in newton aycliffe, County Durham.

I’ve also been threatened with a CCJ should I fail to pay them, I take it this is another empty threat?

I’ll take your advice and no longer contact them.

thanks again

Hi petit,

Every Harlands/CRS thread here in the last 5+ years shows that they do not try court action so a CCJ is highly unlikely.

Their threats are EMPTY !!
