Hi guys,

I received a PCN through the post today 22/08/2019 to a civil parking charge notice from Athena ANPR as I overstayed at a LIDL car park. (Hayes town lidl) (UB3)

The car park was free for 90 minutes. I overstayed by 40 minutes

Entered park: 16/08/19 09:48:44

Exited park: 16/08/19 11:58:55

I received the PCN today 22/08/2019

I have now been charged £90 and told that I will only pay £45 I'd I pay within the next 14 days by this date (03/09/19) I have been sent a letter with photos of my vehicle to prove.

I did shop at LIDL on the day, but I domt have the reciept.  I do shop at lidl almost everyday. I've got bank statements to prove i'm a regular customer.

I'm not usually late but the day in question I overstayed with 40 minutes over of the allowed 90 minutes doing other errands.

Any help and advice are greatly appreciated as to what I can do.

Thank you,

Dimsy

You could try contacting Lidl customer service and explain that you are a regular customer. Even though you do not have your receipt from that day, by the sound of it you will have paid by card rather than cash. If you let Lidl know you are a regular customer and not just parking there they may quash your ticket.

Unfortunately I paid cash that day. Also I went to do other chores. Do they check the cctv to prove me a non shopper? Because I spent more time out of lidl?

What should you do? Totally ignore them. Next time you are there take photographs of Athena's notice at the entrance to the car park plus the position of the others as well as any difference between the T&Cs of their signs. Also a picture of their payment meter as the T&Cs there are often different from the signs. Check with the local council to see if Athena have permission to erect signs and ANPR cameras under the Town & Country [Advertisements] Regulations -they are often online these days.

Also ignore any future correspondence from them and their unregulated debt collectors and do not be afraid of ever escalating fees most of which have no basis in Law.

The time to come back to us is if they send you a letter of claim where a snotty letter to them may discourage them. Also read other threads on here to get an idea of the numties you are dealing with. One amoeba has more intelligence than all the car parking rogues together.

It is still worthwhile contacting Lidl even without your receipt and especially where you have a record of regular visits to them.
