Hi all, I posted on another bit of the site about calculating interest, & got a reply (can't think who from now, but thank you!) advising me to use the spreadsheet, and looked at it but it means absolutely nothing to me, I am seriously mathematically challenged! Am now really worried, cos I thought I just had to add up the totals I can see on the statements and send a letter asking for this sum back - didn't realise the need to do the maths. I'm wondering if there is anyone who lives in Medway, Kent, or even London, who would get together with me & work out my interest for me? I could pay you. I just have no understanding of figures or ability to calculate. Although I can see totals on my statements, that's all I can understand. I know from the totals shown that I am owed at least at least £766 in charges, plus loads of interest, but no idea how much. I really want to claim, but am going to have to give up if I can't get help. Or is anyone on here an accountant?

If anyone can help, I'd be most grateful.

hi si,

i maybe shouldn't post as you may need more help than i can give. i really don't understand the spreadsheets at all but in a way, i think that helps. you just follow the instructions. i've just last night tried to help someone else in exactly the same position. just try looking at my post to honey in this threadHONEYGIE sees you HSBC! . give it a go and if you still don't get anywhere - post again and i'm sure someone will be able to give further help. try it, we like a tryer around here......

hi sirensinger, have just noticed your thread. I'm actually just on my way out now but if you like I could come back with some help this evening. I'll check back anyway.

Right then. Firstly I want you to know the spreadsheet is very very simple to use. You do not need to be good at maths. I suggest you use the advanced excel spreadsheet here http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/182-6-interest-calculation-spreadsheets.html#post750. Thats not the one in vampiress's chambers - if you scroll further down the thread you should see it.

All you need to do is enter the information in each cell as instructed in the notes. When you key in the charges and interest you were debited as shown on your statements it works out the correct proportion of the interest to reclaim.

Let me know if you get stuck.

Hello Bong and Lateralus, and many thanx for your replies to my pleading .... I hope it didn't sound like I was just trying to get someone to do it all for me, I'm not lazy or anything, just scared stiff! I spent all last night adding up the amounts I've been charged again from my statements (just realised half of them are missing, unfortunately, but I suppose I can make a start), and now I'm looking at the spreadsheet, and literally shaking with fear, it looks like gobbledygook to me! Well, here goes ......
