gym membership

I put a post on fb asking if my daughter can end a contract early with a council gym she is 17.They have said she needs to pay 75% of remainder of fee which is over £60she is in full time education with no job.Any advice appreciated

never seen a gym do court

but that's the private sector..

 

not sure about council gyms?

is it run by them??

but I cant see it being any diff.

 

why is she ending early, most lists valid reasons?

it all changed im sure its classed as council but might of privatised she had a part time job at the time and went with her dad to gym getting there and back with him but hes had an injury so hes cancelling gym on medical grounds leaving us with financial situation shes in full time education with no job at all and no way of getting there now.

1. Did YD sign up for a minimum 12 month m/ship, or a rolling monthly m/ship, or summat else ?

 

2. What age was she when joining.

 

3. Did you or anyone else over 18 years old sign for her when joining.

 

4. Who pays the monthly DD.

12 month membership just 17 when she joined nobody else signed for her, she pays d/d from a debit account  with no money going into it as she is at college full time

Thanks for the reply which makes the case more simple.

 

As the young gym member was under 18 when she joined, she was a minor and the gym or their admin Co. cannot enforce any contract or agreement with her.

 

She can reply to any demand from the gym saying :-

 

" I was a minor at the time of signing the membership and cannot be held to any contract terms associated with such a membership agreement.

Accordingly no further demands should be made and this should be the end of the matter.
