Last November I had an air source heat pump fitted by a company called Heart from Doncaster.

They quoted, I accepted and they did a good job on the installation.

As part of their package I was offered an opportunity to delay payment by one year for a fixed sum of £49.00.

This seemed like a good deal as the total amount of the job, including all new radiators, lots of new pipework, new tanks, etc., etc. was £14,650.00.

As I qualified for renewable fuel payments of £10,500 over 7 years, I was quite happy for my old back boiler to be removed and the new kit fitted.

This deal was with Ikano Bank.

There was, at the time of installation, a shortage of Mitsubishi remote controllers.

I have verified this with Mitsubishi.

They actually arrived in the UK at the end of January and since then I have been chasing Heart to supply one.

I called today to be told by a recorded message that the number was not recognised and further investigation reveals that the company has gone into liquidation.

The part in question is about £200 and also needs professional fitting to link it both to my network and to the main controller.

Are Ikano in any way responsible for this?

Do I have any comeback at all?

All suggestions will be gratefully received.

Please let me know if you need further details.

  • dx100uk changed the title to heat pump system fitted, part not available, company gone bust - are Ikano financiers liable to pay and fit missing part?

I'll check and let you know.  Thanks dx100uk.

I never received an agreement.

I received a letter which calls the loan a "Buy Now Pay Later" loan.

This also gives instructions on how to download a copy of the agreement but when I tried to do that I received an error message.

I'll have to wait until Monday to contact Ikano and take this further.

oh..that's bad..

ok get the info.

if it is and pretty sure it will be..

then your are covered under section 75 of the Consumer credit act and yes they are equally liable as the 'contract' resulting in the credit agreement has not been completed.

you should be ok.

  • 2 months later...

Just to finalise this, DX100uk was totally correct and Ikano Bank did not try to wriggle out of their responsibility.  The correct thermostat is now fitted and all is working correctly.
