Hi

i recently had bailiffs banging on the door demanding £320 for a £42.50 toll fee that I didn't know I had.  There was no contact, letters, email, phone calls prior to the knock. I paid the balance because I was scared and didn't ask any question. Is it worth disputing and does anyone know if this amount is correct?

thanks

moved to the main bailiff forum..

what do you mean by toll...is this a Dartford crossing issue?

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Did these people identify themselves? Do you know which Bailiffs they were?

Did you pay cash or by card?

You should have received several letters before any call

DO NOT PAY UPFRONT FEES TO COLD CALLERS PROMISING TO WRITE OFF YOUR DEBTS

DO NOT PAY UPFRONT FEES FOR COSTLY TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS WITH SO CALLED "EXPERTS" THEY INVARIABLY ARE NOTHING OF THE SORT

BEWARE OF QUICK FIX DEBT SOLUTIONS, IF IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT INVARIABLY IS

The amount that you paid seems odd.

If this debt had been for an unpaid  Dartford Crossing toll, the amount that you have been asked to pay at visit stage would be £425. If the debt had been an unpaid Merseyflow toll (for using the Mersey Gateway Bridge) then the amount would be £380.
