Under the Consumer Rights Act you are entitled to have a vehicle of satisfactory quality.   If a defect appears within the first 6 months of ownership which means that the car is not satisfactory then you are required to give the dealer a single opportunity to repair or else refund you.   So the question is what condition would a car of that make model, age and mileage and price be in.   I think the best way forward is to raise the issue with the dealer but also start to make your own researches as to whether the rust damage to this vehicle is beyond what would be expected of a vehicle of that character and in those circumstances.   When you have discovered. then come back here.   Additionally, you haven't told us the cost of the vehicle. that would be helpful to know because it will affect the quality of vehicle that you would reasonably expect.   Also I asked you the name of the dealer and you haven't told us. Are you trying to protect them?

I don't have in writing how long the actual works themselves would take but believe they said it was two weeks.   I spoke with CAB earlier today and they've said I can cancel this order as the company are already in breach of the terms, plus catching them out re the manufacturer's and the buildings regs she said to put in writing that I was cancelling and mention breach of consumer protection, unfair trading regulations and the fact that they are wilfully misleading me.   She said the credit card company will handle the refund as I hoped. I don't want them working for me in any way shape or form now.
    • Hi thanks for replying, The car was registered in 2009 ½, as I said a 59 plate. Mileage, when I got it it had circa 45K miles, it now has circa 72K miles. I have had it for 3 years almost to the month. I got it from a dealership in Loughborough, on the selling point that it was low mileage and was dealership serviced. Shortly after my return home to Southampton, I took it into my local dealership for a once over, part of which entailed one of their mechanics sitting with me while I drove around locally. I wanted them to take over looking after the car for me. Hope this helps?

    • I came across this discussion recently and just wanted to give my experience of A Shade Greener that may help others regarding their boiler finance agreement.
       
      We had a 10yr  finance contract for a boiler fitted July 2015.
       
      After a summer of discontent with ASG I discovered that if you have paid HALF the agreement or more you can legally return the boiler to them at no cost to yourself. I've just returned mine the feeling is liberating.
       
      It all started mid summer during lockdown when they refused to service our boiler because we didn't have a loft ladder or flooring installed despite the fact AS installed the boiler. and had previosuly serviced it without issue for 4yrs. After consulting with an independent installer I was informed that if this was the case then ASG had breached building regulations,  this was duly reported to Gas Safe to investigate and even then ASG refused to accept blame and repeatedly said it was my problem. Anyway Gas Safe found them in breach of building regs and a compromise was reached.
       
      A month later and ASG attended to service our boiler but in the process left the boiler unusuable as it kept losing pressure not to mention they had damaged the filling loop in the process which they said was my responsibilty not theres and would charge me to repair, so generous of them! Soon after reporting the fault I got a letter stating it was time we arranged a powerflush on our heating system which they make you do after 5 years even though there's nothing in the contract that states this. Coincidence?
       
      After a few heated exchanges with ASG (pardon the pun) I decided to pull the plug and cancel our agreement.
       
      The boiler was removed and replaced by a reputable installer,  and the old boiler was returned to ASG thus ending our contract with them. What's mad is I saved in excess of £1000 in the long run and got a new boiler with a brand new 12yr warranty. 
       
      You only have to look at TrustPilot to get an idea of what this company is like.

    • Dazza a few months ago I discovered a good friend of mine who had ten debts with cards and catalogues which he was slavishly paying off at detriment to his own family quality of life, and I mean hardship, not just absence of second holidays or flat screen TV's.
       
      I wrote to all his creditors asking for supporting documents and not one could provide any material that would allow them to enforce the debt.
       
      As a result he stopped paying and they have been unable to do anything, one even admitted it was unenforceable.
       
      If circumstances have got to the point where you are finding it unmanageable you must ask yourself why you feel the need to pay.  I guarantee you that these companies have built bad debt into their business model and no one over there is losing any sleep over your debt to them!  They will see you as a victim and cash cow and they will be reluctant to discuss final offers, only ways to keep you paying with threats of court action or seizing your assets if you have any.
       
      They are not your friends and you owe them no loyalty or moral duty, that must remain only for yourself and your family.
       
      If it was me I would send them all a CCA request.   I would bet that not one will provide the correct response and you can quite legally stop paying them until such time as they do provide a response.   Even when they do you should check back here as they mostly send dodgy photo copies or generic rubbish that has no connection with your supposed debt.
       
      The money you are paying them should, as far as you are able, be put to a savings account for yourself and as a means of paying of one of these fleecers should they ever manage to get to to the point of a successful court judgement.  After six years they will not be able to start court action and that money will then become yours.
       
      They will of course pursue you for the funds and pass your file around various departments of their business and out to third parties.
       
      Your response is that you should treat it as a hobby.  I have numerous files of correspondence each faithfully organised showing the various letters from different DCA;s , solicitors etc with a mix of threats, inducements and offers.   It is like my stamp collection and I show it to anyone who is interested!

Hi All

 

We switched over from BT to Plusnet at the back end of last year, just before christmas and since the switchover, I have not had a decent internet connection through the WiFi since.

 

Background: The house is a large old property with brick walls so WiFi is spotty in some areas, to resolve this I have placed access points that are hard wired in where necessary. When the provider was BT there were no problems I could test with a cable or WiFi and the speed would be pretty similar. Since switching over to Plusnet the internet speed through the WiFi has been awful and I don't think I've hit more than 6meg when testing. The reason I know it is not a WiFi problem is because the issues only started when we switched to Plusnet and when testing the internal network speeds they are consistent and the signal strength is also fine given that when I'm testing I'm less than 2 metres from the main router so any interference would be minimal and the WiFi has a clear channel.

 

On top of that I seem to be getting regular dropouts which also aren't being detected by Plusnet.

 

I have been on the phone to Plusnet at least once a week trying to get the problem solved, they sent out an Openreach engineer and after doing all his tests said that there is nothing wrong with the line coming in. All plusnet seem to say is "they can't guarantee wifi speeds" which I understand, however when I'm literally sat less than 2 metres from the main router without obstruction and the speed isn't anywhere near the wired speed, I know that there is something wrong. Having exhausted all options that I am able to, I'm pretty sure Plusnet are throttling the wireless connection somehow which they say they don't do but all evidence points to the contrary.

 

I need a solution to this problem because it is causing me a massive amount stress.

 

Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.

hub zero or hub one?

gt and plusnet are the same co anyway

 

zero's are known to have wi-fi issues to existing repeaters etc,

if you have a hub one

make sure you use/repeat the faster of the two dual band signals not the low speed one which is limited/throttled

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

 

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

 

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

 

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Forgot to mention. I started out with the Plusnet Hub One and then switched over to the old BT Smart Hub 6. I'm not using repeaters, I'm using hardwired access points. I've checked everything on the internal network and the issue is not internal. It is 100% Plusnet but have no idea what they are doing to throttle the speed transmitted via WiFi.

They are unable to detect whether a device is connected over Wireless or Hard Wired into a connection. The router handles all that with a separate radio inside the Router for Wireless.

If you are using hardwired access points - are they hardwired into the Ethernet ports on the back or are they powerline?

 

We could do with some help from you.

I would have thought so to and actually thought throttling was a thing of the past. Given my current situation, there is literally nothing else I can think that would be causing the problem. Two different routers are giving the exact same results. If the problem with the Plusnet router then it would have stopped when I switched back to the BT router. I find it improbable there is an issue with the hardware given there were no problems until the broadband was switched over to Plusnet.

 

The WiFi signal is actually fine and stable because I have checked that with an Analyser app. The problem is the internet speed coming through.

 

The access points are hardwired via CAT 6. When I test the speed with a cable plugged into the access point I get the higher speeds. If the problem was with the router then the speed being transmitted from the Access points WiFi would be the higher speed that goes into it via the CAT 6 instead I'm getting a low speed.

It is FTTC 80:20. When connected via cable the test comes in at 58 meg which is above the point of sale speed. Which means technically Plusnet are fulfilling there end of the bargain however they are most definitely doing something which is affecting the speeds that come through via the WiFi because all other options have been exhausted. I just need a solution to get this resolved.

When using InSSIDer - How much interference do you get from neighbouring Points including your own?

 

I use WiFi Analyser on Android and the WiFi analysis come back clean. Is InSSIDer better or different? The WiFi Transmitters are pretty far apart also the WiFi signal strength is always full and the WiFi connection doesn't actually drop, I can still be connected to WiFi but not connected to internet.
